2000 Hyundai Trajet GSi 2.0 16v petrol from UK and Ireland

Summary:

Great

Faults:

The 3rd gear's synchro has gone. Need to shift very gently or push the clutch twice.

Passenger's door doesn't lock with central locking.

Spark plug cables needed replacement (2 & 4 were burnt?).

Reverse lights stopped working despite bulbs replacement.

Front tyres worn out quickly.

Battery keeps going flat after 5 days of no use.

General Comments:

Wanted an MPV and this was a real bargain. The 7 seats are a bit disadvantage as luggage space is small, but still enough for buggy etc.

The car "glides" well. A bit higher fuel consumption, but after all, it's a van with only a 2.0L engine.

Very spacious and comfortable, especially on long runs.

Need higher revs when overtaking or going uphill.

Top speed of 100 MPH is adequate for this kind of car, however acceleration isn't good, and it needs to be downshifted...

2000 Hyundai Trajet GL 2.0 from Malaysia

Summary:

Comfortable family car

Faults:

Air condition compressor is not functioning at 50K KM. It was replaced with a new unit.

Engine warning indicator is "on" to replace faulty sensor, for which one of the pistons is not able to function properly at 60K km.

Engine warning indicator is "on" to replace faulty sensor, for which a slip in the gear synchronization failed to shift at 70K km.

General Comments:

Introduce a fuel economy gadget. Can feel the increase in engine power and less fuel consumption.

2000 Hyundai Trajet GSi 2.0 petrol from Australia and New Zealand

Summary:

It is a good vehicle with the wrong engine

Faults:

Driver seat had to be replaced in year two due to a damage in the spring.

The vehicle would pull to the left and wear tires too fast; this has been fixed.

Driving in the city can be quite expensive. A tankful burns in as low as 220 kilometers. When I am lucky it travels for 300 kilometers in my flat city. The dealer says the engine is fine, but I do not agree.

General Comments:

This vehicle steers very well and makes you feel in control all the time.

It has a fairly strong engine.

It burns as much gasoline as my 1980 5.7 V8 Pontiac Bonneville.

2000 Hyundai Trajet GL 2.7 V6 from Australia and New Zealand

Summary:

Seemed good at the time, but now a dud

Faults:

Brakes squeak a lot, even after they went back to Hyundai 6 times.

Paint peeling off the side bars.

Drivers seat adjustment faulty.

Air conditioning unit freezing up.

General Comments:

This car started out well, however problems arose when it hit 35000kms.

Seats are comfortable (when they work ok).

Tows well, except it may be rubbing on the shock absorbers with weight in the back.
