2004 Hyundai XG350 L V6 from North America

Summary:

Greatest car ever!

Faults:

Cigarette lighter popped a fuse.

General Comments:

This is the best car I have ever owned! and I have owned over 50 in my life. It is even better than the XG 300.

The only thing to go wrong was the cigarette lighter and I think that is because the car phone charger was pulling too many amps.

It gets great mileage for such a powerful engine.

The warranty is the best in the business.

Luxury, and performance.

2004 Hyundai XG350 L V6 from North America

Summary:

This is a great car

Faults:

Halogen headlight bulbs (3) .

Rear brakes now.

General Comments:

This has been a great car. Very few problems, always more power than needed, and very minor problems.

Now the dealership is another story.

I tried calling two times into service. It keeps ringing and ringing. Operator butts in several times wanting to know who I'm waiting for. I say service, I finally hang up.

Tried scheduling a service appointment through the dealer's website. It says someone from the dealership service department will call back to confirm. Never did.

I went elsewhere.

I will need to replace this car in a few years, but not with these poor dealerships.

2004 Hyundai XG350 l 3.5 from North America

Summary:

Fairly good car poor service

Faults:

The automatic climate control does not work properly. Have had it back to the dealer and they nothing wrong with it. If you set temperature control to 72 degrees in the winter you cannot get the temp to go over 6o degrees! While traveling your feet are always cold and cold air coming out of the upper vents in dashboard. Contacted Hyundai and they said dealer was right and refused to do anything for me. Customer service both at dealer and company extremely poor. CR at Huyndai acted like she couldn't be bothered by my troubles. Tech at dealer who worked on the car did not even know where the photo sensors or thermal sensors that control the auto climate control were located.!! Tech told me that this feature in a 26 thousand dollar car was not like that in a caddy and what did I expect for a car in this price range. After this comment I told service manager to forget the whole thing and left. Took car to a friend who is a GM tech and he diagnosed problem in 10 minutes. Ambient temp sensor bad. Called Hyundai told them this. Their answer was if their dealer can't find problem then problem doen't exist!!! I hung up on them and am now filing for arbitration.

General Comments:

Car has a lot of power, but gas mileage poor. A lot of bells and whistles for the money.

Indifference by Hyundai dealers seem to be the norm. However, many issues that they have to deal with seem to be more related to design issues than actual mechanical failure of a part. They are in a no-win situation.

2004 Hyundai XG350 L 3.5 from North America

Summary:

Very nice car and features for the money, but with some quirks

Faults:

Drivers side windshield wiper consistently breaks free from it's locking mechanism and either stops working or tangles itself with the other wiper. Dealer says it is supposed to do that as a safety feature. I don't buy it since it does this repeatedly even on a dry windshield.

Excessive wind noise from passenger side window. Dealer cannot (or will not) locate to correct.

Sound system is the worst I have ever heard from any source.

Drivers side window freezes shut consistently whenever temp drops below 32.

In cold weather, the engine sounds excessively noisy until warmed up.

General Comments:

Very responsive although accelerator pedal is extremely touchy.

Lots of bells and whistles for the money, which I like.

Wish it had a mpg indicator and compass.

Very little head room for us tall drivers.

As mentioned above, the sound system is so bad in this car, it outweighs all the good features in my opinion.

How can you say that the 210 Watt Infinity sound system is the worst? For a factory sound system its one of the best, It is up there with Bose.

Acceleration is an issue with most XG350 owners. There is no reasonable way to accelerate smoothly. This is a design issue and several dealers have looked at this problem on my XG350 and have not been able to correct it.

Bose isn't exactly the best in the car audio department... the home theatre yes, but car audio no. if only they would put a Harmon/Kardon system in it, then what would be something to praise, not an infinity.

If you're looking for real car audio...

Go with Audi and their B&o audio system. Contrary to popular belief, Bose is no where near the best in home audio, B&o would blow them out of the water, any application, any day.

B&O is a company that creates systems that cost THOUSANDS of dollars. How can you compare a 80K Audi to a 20K Hyundai. Get real.

The stereo is great for how much the car costs, maybe this gentleman (or lady) doesn't have it adjusted properly. There is a TSB out for the jumpy throttle, same problem in the 3.5 Santa Fe's.

I thought Mark Levinson was the end all, be all of car stereos. It had better be for the $7K or so Lexus wants for it.

We also have a 2003 Tl type S with the Bose sound system.. Sounds just as good, if not better.. But hten again this is IMO..

I think it's a great sound system! However it turns on by itself! Anyone else have that?
