I'm a BMW 330Cic owner considering a G37 purchase in the future now that there is a convertible, so I'm looking at these comparative comments and G35 reviews. Let's face it, these are great automobiles that can turn the head of a BMW owner, and they are getting better.
The thing that worries me a bit about the G35/G37 is that exhaust note, with more than a touch of Formula 1 in it. It's a siren song to a car enthusiast, but frankly, I find it excessively loud and pretentious; different from, but similar in effect to the V8 growl of a hot rod Mustang. I like something a bit more unobtrusive. But your mileage may vary.

I'm thinking about buying a 03 G35 with 108,000 miles with about 3 owners... Do you guys think it's a good deal for $11,000?
Also has 19's and electric start.

1. I notice the comments about BMW's are pretty vague and ambiguous. Are you comparing E36 BMW 3 series models 1992-2000 to a 2003- up G35 sedan?
2. E46 model interior was a vast improvement over the e36. I owned the e36 model and the interior wasn't that great. I can certainly attest to that but your talking about a car that is nearly 10-17 years old. E46 you can't make that claim.
3.E90 BMW sedan in comparison tests with the G35 sedan, its not close. Read any magazine. The new twin turbo inline 6 is all the rave now. Even with the E46 model I didn't see the G35 beat out that model in most comparison tests.
4. When Ivan G made reference to a G35 coupe beating a M3, are you talking about the 1995-1999 E36 BMW M3? 0-60 times are similar 5.7 and 5.8 respectively. 2007 G35 coupe 0-60 5.1. That would be a close race, but the e46 M3 (2000-2006) model 0-60 in 4.7 or the e90 M3 (2000-2006) 0-60 in 4.1 would crush the G35 coupe. Even the 1 series with the new twin turbo engine would give the G37 coupe all that it can handle. M division is entirely different animal. Nissan GTR is a better comparison. 0-60 in 3.5 seconds.
In terms of reliability, Japanese cars are in general more reliable. Costs are not as expensive as European cars. BMWs more reliable than most European cars Mercedes, Audi, Porsche, VW, Saab, Volvo. However BMW is the bench mark in terms of handling and performance... please don't delude yourself by putting it down. If money wasn't an option BMW is the way to go, Infiniti is a nice alternative.

Why buy a pale imitation when you could buy the real deal!?! Infiniti, Lexus and Acura were trying to emulate German cars and have no history, so to say comparing a BMW/MB to an Infiniti/Nissan is like comparing a Daewoo to a Toyota, which is INSANE. It is in fact truer to say that comparing an Infiniti/Nissan to a BMW/MB is like comparing an IRL/Indy Car to a Formula One race car. They may seem similar, but we all know who/what are the benchmarks. I recall the IRL/IndyCar race series (Infiniti/Nissan) referred to as the poor cousin of Formula 1 (MB/BMW) and thus will NEVER be as desirable, fast, technically innovative and uncompromised as Formula 1 (MB/BMW).
