Greetings.
I just wanted to add that this procedure didn't for me with several tries. On a whim, I replaced the fuse (it was grimy looking, but didn't really look like it needed to be replaced), and tried again. This time I was immediately successful.
Whether it needed to be replaced or not, that little fuse was a LOT cheaper than getting it serviced would have been.
Thanks for the help!!!

Hi, can you tell me which fuse did you change I had the same problem, but the reset procedure doesn't work after several tries.
Thanks.

I tried the reset method and it worked on the first try. Basically stumbled upon this at first look into the light going off and happy I did! Light was set off blinking after a hard hit over some railroad tracks.

I have a 1999 Infinity I30 and I am having issue with the car jogging. I have spent $1200 trying to fix it, but still having the problem. They scan the car and they came up with a 400 code which they say is a sensor issue and the ERG valve which they say they fix, but the car is still jogging. Can someone help and explain what is actually wrong with this car.

I posted an earlier comment when I failed to read the last sentence about resetting the Air Bag warning light. Oops!
I followed the comment posted 17th Feb 2006, 8:33 and was able to successfully reset the Air Bag flashing light.
Thanks a million.

The airbag reset from the 2/17/06 post worked for me too. Thanks. What a wacky solution.

A used car dealer showed me the airbag light trick. It worked. I was going ot try and trade my car at the local Nissan dealer, for a toyota, ha ha.. but it broke down in the parking lot- maybe it was trying to tell me something. I bought a starter, the airbag light annoyance is gone thanks to the door button trick. It runs like a top at 123,000 miles. Guess I will keep it. Not a bad vehicle, but the best vehicle for the money in my book, used, is a Toyota 4 runner.

I have tried the airbag trick a few times and can't seem to get it to work. Overall I love my car. I bought the 1998 I30T new and it has had very little problems. I did replace the Alternator 2 times though. Let me know where I can get more info on the blinking airbag light.

Tried the reset - didn't work. Called a mobile airbag specialist who identified the problem as the driver seat airbag. Reached under the seat, took out the umbrella that knocked/pulled the airbag plug loose, reset the light - presto - $75 - fixed.

I bought a 1998 Infiniti I30 from my father-in-law for my daughter to have reliable transportation. It has 44,000 miles. The air bag light began blinking 2 days ago. I thought to look for a reset code on the Internet, got sidetracked, and took it in to a dealer. $125 to diagnose the problem, and another $550 to fix it. Then I saw the Feb 17 2006 posting here on how to reset it. I called the dealer, said do not repair it, brought it home. The first time it did not work. But I closed the door, opened it, tried it again, and PRESTO! Light out! Thank you, thank you, thank you! You saved me some much needed money!

I have a 98 I30t and have suffered from the air bag light for some time now. Initially sent back to dealer for repairs. within a few months the light came back on. I found the reset sequence and it worked for a few times. The car has been driven about 1.5 years with the light flashing. Front end collision did deploy both front airbags. Now I need a new bumper, radiator, ac condenser, fan shroud, hood, fender, and radiator support, front airbags and airbag computer. While I am at it I think I will check the connections under the front seats.

I had the same issue as everyone else, I did the reset and it work great. My only question is has anyone had an accident after reseting the light and did the air bag work properly. This is my wife's car and I don't want to sacrifice her safety for $600. Thanks for the posting.

I love the internet! I have a 1998 I30 that had the "air bag" light blinking and stumbled onto this web page. I had to modify the procedure a little to get it to work, but it worked like a charm. Here is the procedure I used:
- While car is off, open driver side door
- turn key to the "On" position
- press door side switch a bunch of times quickly
- wait a couple of seconds
- move key to the "Lock" position
- close door
- start car.
The light came on upon ignition (as it is supposed to) and went out after a few seconds. Thank you, thank you, thank you for this tip!!

I have a 1998 Q-45 that had the "air bag" light blinking. I too had to modify the procedure a bit, but it worked!
- car off, open driver side door.
- turn key to the "On" position.
- press door side switch a bunch of times quickly. I watched the instrument lights while I did this. The "open door" icon blinks off and on when you press the side switch. (I don't think I was depressing the side switch fully early.)
- wait a couple of seconds. I was staring at the "Air Bag" light which was on and when it extinguished, I then turned the key to the OFF aka Lock position.
- close door.
- start car.
Thanks to all for the tip... I believe it should work for Maxima's also.

Hi, I have a 1998 I30 Infiniti with about 155,000. It has run great until recently it started running rough a little bit and seem to have engine misfires, as in other cars that needed a tune up. I called Infiniti and the guy said it might be a coil as the car doesn't really have tune ups.
Any ideas? I also have the air bag light flashing that started today. The misfirings started about a 4-5 days ago.
Any connection? Any suggestions or comments?

There is a procedure to reset the air bag module. I had the same problem with my air bag light, after some research I found a way to fix it without costing a penny.
While the car is off, open the door, and turn the key to the on position and press the door side switch at LEAST 5 times within 7 seconds (personally, I just kept pushing the switch as many times as I could during 7 seconds)
- After doing that, wait one second
- Now move the key to the (1) position (between LOCK & Accessory)
- Close the door, move the key back to the LOCK position and then start the engine.
If you are wondering what the door side switch is, it is the button the door pushes when you close the door to turn the interior light off.
