1994 Infiniti J30 V6 from North America
Summary:
Fun and reliable
Faults:
The very first thing I needed to replace was the alternator. It would not charge the battery.
Next was the shifter. I was unable to start the car and shift from park to drive. The remedy now is I turn the key to aux and move the shifter to neutral. Then I can start the car from there and access all gears except park. To use park, just reverse the order.
Next, the driver's side door does not lock, although the mechanism puts the locks in the lock position. All other doors lock as they should.
Also, the engine light comes on and off on its own.
General Comments:
Handles great. 0-80 is very quick, and it's very fast.
The interior needs a complete makeover and the body has a couple of dents and dings, and like the interior, all are able to be remedied.
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes

I have a 94 J30 with the same issues noted. My car has 215,000 miles and is still running strong. This car has long since outlasted 2 other cars I've bought new since 94 (both having to be donated to charity with less miles on them). Bottom line is this, I've invested $1000 into fixing this car over the past 4 years and it has been the best money spent. To quote my brother-in-law mechanic who has been trying to get this car from me for years, "this engine is bullet-proof," enough said.
