We own a 93 J30 with 135000 km on it. The car is pristine and runs like new. Last week we started experiencing a problem with the ABS light coming on. After the car is shut off, there is some motor which keeps on running for about 15 min. Does anybody have an idea what the problem could be?

I just bought a 1994 j30T this past week and the car drives great except sometimes my transmission sounds like its slipping. The car cost 3850 and it has 115000 on it! It exudes a lot of power, but I am worried about the transmission, I plan on getting my transmission flushed very soon and I am so glad that someone told me that you are supposed to get it flushed every 60,000 miles. I love my car, but I'm having problems with my radio-working period and my dash too. If anyone can help email me at queesh11@yahoo.com.

I purchased a 94 j30 a few weeks ago. I'm curious to know a few things. it has 178k miles. how much longer will this car last? it has a horrible screeching sound when you turn it on- what is that? and I guess there is a oil leak which is leaking onto the exhaust and causing lots of smoke. whats the worst that could happen if I don't get this fixed? overall I love this car.

^I have the exact same issue with my J30 94. I thought it just might be the car itself. I am clueless when it comes to comes to cars. I will have to look into that. I changed the timing belt and spark plugs. I also put a new stereo in, cause the previous owner that had it, didn't have the faceplate of the stereo. The sound system is awesome. Overall, I'm very happy with car. I cannot believe that an old car like this can run so great and is very luxurious, even with todays standards. I can only imagine, it must have been top of the line back in 94.
I have another issue with mine, sometimes, when I start up the car. The check engine will light up and the car will start jerking, it only last for a couple of minutes or so, and it goes away. However, this is only happens on occasions. For example 14 out 15 times starts perfectly. It doesn't happen often. Nevertheless, it does happen sometimes. A friend of mine told me that it is the connectors that are connected to the spark plugs (don't know how they are called). He said they cost around $50 each, so for 6 of them it would cost me around $300. My only concern is, should I continue driving until they give up? or will this issue cause any other damages if they don't get replaced as soon as possible?
Currently, it has 151,000 miles. It runs extremely smooth. It's extremely comfortable and feels really stable when sitting inside.

Hello,
I have a 1994 Infinity J30 that has an issue with the turn signal and/or flasher unit. The flasher unit constantly make a clicking noise as if the flasher or turn signal was activated. I also just noticed some smoke coming from the steering column. Does anyone have any advise for me?
Please email jbadvantagehi@aol.com.
Thank you.

I have a 1994 Infiniti J30 with 222K miles. I am the original owner and really love this car. The only problems with the car have been 1) fuel pump that was replaced early on (50K) ; 2) Replaced interior light relay; 3) replaced a main fuse, 4) Rear window motor replacement and 5) Replace the Radio/CD unit.
I now have an issue that I hope someone can help me with. Recently all the dash lights stopped working. I have looked in both fuse boxes (engine compartment and interior) but cannot find a fuse labeled dash lights. As a matter fact I have taken out all the fuses and they all appear to be OK. Any idea what the rating of the fuse is. I might be able to find it that way. Also if it is not the fuse any idea what the issue could be? Thanks in advance.

For the problem with the dash lights going out, locate the rotating dial that adjusts dash light intensity to the left and below the steering column. After checking that it's rotated to the fully on position, give this area a sharp whack with the back of your left hand. This fixes it consistently on my '93 J30.

Great car. 94 second owner 105K. I am currently in the middle of the door lock / theft deterrent system vortex. Keyless entry stopped working, locks seem to have a mind of their own, and factory alarm opts to go off as it sees fit. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I have a 1994 J30t. It has around 122,000 miles. It has been quite amusing reading all of your follies... I have experienced many of the same. I lost the alarm key fob shortly after I acquired the car, and had problems getting the car alarm to stop and also the ignition to start. Someone at the Nissan dealer told me to put the key in the driver's door lock and turn it twice to the right and then once to the left. This bypasses the alarm and automatic engine lock. My left headlight comes on and goes off whenever it wants to (more off than on). I, too have had it checked many times. I thank whomever it was that discovered it was the relay box near the firewall. My door locks seem to engage whenever they want to, also. That's no big deal as long your key are not inside while you are outside. I had that happen to me. Now it's no big deal because I have an extra key. My most annoying problem is the belts - they squeal. I've had them replaced and tightened and a short time later they squeal again. Any advice on this? I had the radiator replaced last summer, and almost immediately it started overheating again. Now it won't hold water and I have to fill it up every time I drive somewhere. Someone told me that I have a faulty water pump. Any advice on this? I'm a single mom and cannot afford expensive repairs. I live in Pensacola, FL, so if anyone knows anyone who can do work on my J30t please add your comments. Thanks.

Regarding the rear window staying down. I had a problem with that in my 94 J30. I thought I was going to have to get a whole replacement for it so I went with my shade-tree beer mechanic to the junkyard and found a Q45 which has the same window. We took it out and brought it back to replace it. When we took the paneling off, we actually he, discovered it was just stuck and he messed with it and it came back up. It was really annoying for a while. I think we sprayed it with WD-40 but I still have the replacement parts. If you want, you can have someone mechanical take off the door panel and unstick it once you get it up and don't ever roll it down, just in case. I think it is a slight imperfection in the way the body curves react with the window, but what do I know. The struts you must get at a salvage yard or they are expensive at the dealers. I got some from a Katrina car and they work better than the originals, but still suck cuz they are rusty. Hope this helps
John.
