I don't understand. Is this review about Samand or not? What does Paykan have common with Samand?

These cars are based on the 1960s Hillman Hunter - we call them the hillman grunter in NZ. I wonder if there's any plans to export them out here. Anyone know?

Hey boys! Don't bash the yank tanks... No, do bash the yank tanks. Not because they are American, but because the Americans don't make 'good' cars. Buy any European or Japanese wagon and you'll be laughing! Especially the smaller cars.
Never ever buy a car through some weird, misguided idea of national loyalty. That's just daft! If you live in Germany but love Honda, because they are very good, buy one! If you live in Iran but would like a Toyota, get one. Don't be told what to buy by someone who does not necessarily have your, personal, best interests at heart! Besides, they probably have a (company) Mercedes anyway!

Good point! The British no longer have an auto industry. It must be a hard pill to swallow to have their luxury marques bought out by a company in the former colony of India. And hard to believe as it may seem, Ford, Lincoln, Mercury, and Cadillac are all rated higher in reliability than Mercedes. Mercedes may be fancier and have higher "initial satisfaction" but if you want reliability, you'd be better off having a Ford when you get a few years down the road.
The original comments on the Iranian car are interesting, though.

What on the world is going wrong with Mercedes? They were to be good strong cars.
I don't think the British give a damn about losses of kind cars. They do not suffer to much either.
Those people buy what want, because they know.
Japanese cars seem to be very normal in the Britain. I must have to say the Japanese do making good cars.
The people of Japan drive on the same side of highway as the British to... what is going??? Japan and British are small island countries. They both were imperial places too. It is possible they are aware of something we do not know! And are laughing at us! Both very much rich.. but say they are in troubles. I think they might not be!
I laugh with them and enjoy them! Nice people.

To the above commentor, you do realize that Iran has one of the biggest auto industries in the world right? And that the country is wealthy and educated? And that Peugeot is considering exporting Iranian-built cars to Europe? Iran Khodro is a well established automaker, the Peykan has been long since discontinued due to the government's antipollution campaign, and their new car models are easily the equals of anything South Korea is building these days.
