1992 Isuzu Rodeo LX 3.1L V-6 from North America

Summary:

A high performance off-road machine

Faults:

Spark plug wires melted at 150000.

General Comments:

The Rodeo of 1992 is an extremely reliable vehicle and is an excellent vehicle for any teen. The Rodeo may not have been loaded with luxuries, but it is worth the money and it will go anywhere!

1992 Isuzu Rodeo LS 6 cylinder from North America

Summary:

Barrel roll

Faults:

Oil leak.

General Comments:

I loved the car, it was great, rode great, I even went through a few cornfields with it. It had a mild oil leak which I had repaired at acceptable cost, but other than that I never had a problem with it.

I ran into a problem however one day on my way to work. I was headed down the road when a car came into my lane, I swerved one way, swerved the other, and then the car proceeded to flip 3 times. I was doing 45 miles per hour on dry pavement. So.. that was the end of my experience with the car. They've got two choices on how to fix the car, either fix it so it's not so darn top heavy so it doesn't flip during ordinary driving (it got a 2.9 out of 10 in safety) or at least make it a little lighter up top so that when it flips it lands on the tires. It cost me an extra $300 because they had to right the car off of the roof before they could tow the piece of junk away. Oh yeah, and there was oil all over the place.

#1 SUV NO! NO! Swerve one way then the other, dealers should educate people that these things cannot be thrown around like cars.

All and I mean all SUV's are prone to roll within the conditions you describe not just rodeos. Most consumers like yourself drive SUVs' like they are cars and often find out the hard way that they are not! Cannot believe the rules, regulations, and hoops I jumped thru (oops spelling) through to be bothered to make a post on this site! Regards Robert.

1992 Isuzu Rodeo LS 3.1 V6 from North America

Summary:

Great car for the price

Faults:

The only bad thing that went bad with my truck was that the gears in the rear axle broke 3 times. But there's a reason. Never jump a truck when it's in 4 wheel mode. Then the dealer fixed it that time, but the rear housing leaked oil, so eventually the gears cracked again. And now they've broken again, because I put a lift and huge tires on it.

The alternator broke once because it was submerged under water and it was time for it to break. It lasted 120K miles.

The one annoying thing is the rubber stripping on the inside of the windows; when there is humidity, the inside stripping gets stuck on the window and it's hard for it to go down.

General Comments:

This truck was cheap, I got it as a demo for 16,500K back in 1992, and for the price it was very very reliable and a great truck. Never broke down, except the axle thing, but that was self induced.

I replaced the clutch at 60K miles because of all the off roading and mudhoping. After that I took it easy and made it look nice. I added CALMINI's 3" body lift and 3" suspension lift, added some 15x10 rims, and a set of Mickey Thompson 33"x14.50" tires. And it's still moving.

I got custom switches that power up the 9 pairs of lights on it, and a 4 gauge wire that powers up them all and 2 amplifiers. And after all of this, it keeps on running.

1992 Isuzu Rodeo XS 3.1 6 cylinder from North America

Summary:

The best car I've ever had

Faults:

So far, I have had few problems, I have had to replace the alternator and had some minor brake work done. In the two years I have owned this car, I have spent approximately $550 on repairs, which is pretty cheap considering I put 50,000 miles a year on it.

General Comments:

This has been one of the best cars that I, or anyone in my immediate family has owned. Although it is slightly underpowered for an SUV, it makes a great vehicle for any occasion. I have taken my Rodeo everywhere, off-road, across the country, and to work everyday. I plan on buying a new vehicle in a few months, and I will definitely be buying another Rodeo.
