1984 Jaguar XJ6 4.2 from North America
Summary:
I love "her"
Faults:
When first purchased needed:
Fuel pump, $200, hard to find problem, but simple to fix.
Front shocks, $200, simple fix.
Paint, $2,000 at shop.
Rust at windows, front and back, included in paint price.
Rack and pinion mount, $40, and easy to get to.
Noise from front hub (needed grease), easy.
Since I owned it:
Ignition (lost my key), $20 "online"
Fog lights (cut out loose wire), easy fix, $0.
Speedometer skips (no clue), not too often though.
Wipers (my fault) broke something somewhere when changing the ignition. Still have to find and fix.
Sunroof... one day it worked, and now it doesn't?... Probably a loose wire or switch...
Need to find a solution for better gas mileage 11-20.
General Comments:
Above all, things that were about to go or were gone. This car is worth EVERY PENNY.
Lots of complements.
This is my SECOND second Series III. Missed my old one.
SMOOTH and relaxing.
Comfortable.
Exotic.
Not a 16 year old boy, but love to work on it like I was 16 again.
Had a 2 year old Lexus RX300, $26,000, and my $5,000 Jag puts it to shame...
Looks a lot better with tinted windows.
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes

I have exactly the same problems with my 1984 Jaguar XJ6: Driver-side rear window doesn't work, speedometer only works sometimes and air-conditioning doesn't work. I thought these were just age-related problem, but I've read another review somewhere with the same problems. Defaults of that year model? My Jag has no other problems.
