1993 Jaguar XJ6 from North America

Summary:

I am looking for an XJ40 convertible as a second wife

Faults:

This is by far the most fantastic automobile I have ever driven or owned.

Head gasket went at 100,000 miles, It was replaced.

The tires on the car are an odd size, 15 x 60. We use to put them on the back of our Camaro when we were young kids.

The car just stopped running, so far the engine control module is to blame. Air flow master is also part of the problem so I have been told. Now I have to add one to the list, crank shaft sensor, if you have a 1993 XJ6 and it just stops, this could be one of the problems.

Locating the parts is a challenge, but with the invention of the Internet, things are getting easier all the time. I have found Ebay to be a great source for parts.

The lights have light modules. If your lights go out, you will need one of these modules to fix the problem. Make sure you check the lightblubs first. They could just be burnt out!

I have had to replace all the injectors, this was not cheap, but I am told that they will last another 100,000 miles.

Gas: you have to run high-test gasoline. With the price going up, this could get expensive. On the good side, it gets 23 miles to the gallon.

General Comments:

Interior: Jaguar went all out, with the blend of wood and the softest leather ever found in a automobile. They rank a 10+ in my book.

The car runs well, in fact at 100 mph this is one of the smoothest rides I have ever been in. Interstate travel in a Jaguar is a reason for living.

The back seat has enough room for that summer picnic with the love of your life. There is plenty of room in the back seat if you want to feel like kids again. Don't worry, the police will understand if you get caught.

1993 Jaguar XJ6 Sovereign 4.0 V6 from North America

Summary:

A Very Safe, Luxurious, Fast European Car

Faults:

Nothing too major has gone wrong with the car so far. But I had to get the Oil Pan replaced. ($682.45) Front Brakes + Rotors. ($157.50) Wheel Bearings ($298.58) + new tires, which is expected. It does need a new antenna and a CD changer and a belt. Nothing too serious for 11 years old and 115,000 miles!

General Comments:

Absolutely love the vehicle. Tons of options and a great suspension. Wonderful looks and lines! Jaguar has always had that distinctive look! By far the grille and the wood, and the factory chrome wheels are the best thing about the car!

1993 Jaguar XJ6 3.2 from UK and Ireland

Summary:

Affordable feel-good luxury

Faults:

Side indicator lamps on front wings rusted out as they trap water if the drain hole gets clogged with mud.

Air conditioning packed up, but I suspect it was faulty when bought, but had been recharged with gas, only to leak out again.

General Comments:

This car is extremely comfortable, powerful and quiet and can be driven long distances at high speed without tiring the driver or passengers.

It is sometimes fun to over-ride the automatic and keep in a lower gear for very responsive performance.

The car generally encourages a very smooth and relaxed driving style as it is big and has a lot of presence on the road.

It averages about 21 miles per gallon in mixed driving.

I brought a 1993 XJ6 3.2 and it's by far the most comfortable, quiet, refined car I have brought!!

The boot is massive; my boxer dog can sit up in there!!

It has some faults:

Fan blower can work when the key is out!! Flat battery!!

Central locking has its own little mind.

The seats can be adjusted to any position imaginable.

The engine is very responsive and the 4 speed auto is always ready to kick down when needed.

I average 18 mpg, and on a run I will get 26.

But all in all, I will live with the faults as I have a fantastic ultra reliable car that never fails to please!!

I just bought a 1993 XJ6 with 149k miles on it for my son (his first car). I PRAY that it is reasonably reliable and very safe.

One of the best looking cars ever made on my opinion.

Safety is as good as any car from the time period, but reliability is a little under average and they are expensive to repair.
