1997 Jeep Cherokee TD Sport 2.5 from UK and Ireland

Summary:

Does everything it should and more

Faults:

Nothing as yet.

The car has a little wear on the seats which can be expected.

The previous owner put alloy wheels and tires that are too big on it causing the wheels to rub when the steering wheel is turned, very annoying when trying to maneuver around a car park.

Petrol gage can be a bit temperamental, looks empty when you should have gallons left, but I don't find that to difficult to deal with, just switch engine off and back on and it rectifies its self.

General Comments:

No complaints with the car at all.

Cabin is roomy and comfortable, enough space in the back for 3 adults. Dashboard is easy to use, no hidden switches or dials.

Its used to pull 2 ponies in a 2 horse trailer which it does with ease in all weather. It seems to enjoy being taken off road and thrown about a bit.

I find my fuel consumption to be around 40 mpg (its the 2.5 TD Sport) which is better than expected although it does use more if you put your foot down, which is incredibly hard not to do because it likes to go fast and cruises at 80 miles an hour.

No complains so far, although if anyone knows where I can get a load space cover and brackets for my boot I would greatly appreciate you dropping me a line at tofties23@hotmail.com.

1997 Jeep Cherokee Country 4.0 from North America

Summary:

This was the best vehicle I ever owned

Faults:

The gas gage had to be repaired, the back cargo light button was replaced 3 times, and the fog light switch was replaced 3 times. All work was done under warranty. No other problems ever.

General Comments:

I have owned many cars and trucks from Street Rods to Crew Cab Dullies. My daughter just totaled our Jeep, she rolled it complete over and back on its tires. She did not get a scratch. This was the best vehicle I ever owned.

1997 Jeep Cherokee LTD SE 2.5 TD from Uk and Ireland

Summary:

A great car made better after lifting the suspension

Faults:

One rear shock absorber began to leak.

One rear leaf spring broke.

Both front universal joints have worn badly.

General Comments:

When I first bought this car I was very pleased, but when the rear suspension failed I was most disappointed. Having both the front and the rear replaced with a quality lift kit has more than made up for my disappointment.

There is more than ample room inside for my family and our dog.

I find the diesel engine very smooth to drive and it has ample torque for easy driving around town.

I feel very let down by my local dealer as it is my opinion that they are not interested in servicing and repairing 'older models', but would be very happy to sell me a new model.

The car has done quite a lot of miles now and has worn very well, the seats show very little sign of wear, the engine starts first time every time and the four wheel drive system engages smoothly and operates faultlessly.

I take my car off road and after having the suspension lifted, I have found it to be a far more rewarding experience.

1997 Jeep Cherokee 4 door 4.0 from North America

Summary:

I do love it

Faults:

2000 Right after I bought it the bushings, radiator, sway bar need to be replaced dealer said not under warranty, $900.00 to fix.

2001 Noticed the paint job is horrible black jeep white specs where paint is missing all over hood, cracking paint under clear coat. Dealer says it is from bird poop too bad.

2003 fuel gauge does not read right 1/4 tank sometimes I run out sometime I don't.

Also the rear oil seal started to leak fixed now.

The back brakes are making a clicking noise when applied. The front pads where fine two months ago now the rotors are shot along with pads.

Water pump replaced.

General Comments:

This Jeep is fast, and can handle speeds up to 100 great, was chased on the LA freeway by a nut in a expedition and left him in the dust.I had it up to 100 mph it jammed.

Kind of bumpy, but hey it's a jeep. not a jag.
