I have had some of the same problems with my 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo now at 116,000 miles. As for my tail light problem, I just bought new ones for $124.00, installed myself, problem solved. They only cost that much because they are the Crystal Clear Euro Style (look great by the way).

I had replace the window assembly. Drove over railroad tracks one day and the window just fell. Got the part from eBay. This is a two person job though. Takes about an hour and some change, unless you have done it before. Found instructions on web. One tweeter just went out (not really an issue for me).

My AFLAC duck is in my drivers side back door, that is the only one so far. Plan on fixing myself today. My water leak is in my tailgate, right side. Now dash instruments are going crazy, keylight with slash across it on, check gauges light on, engine light on, stalled out on road yesterday. Need to replace rotors for the first time.

Even with all these problems, it is still cheaper to fix them than buy a new car. It's just frustrating though. I feel everyone's pain.

Everyone should send Diamond Chrysler an e-mail and paste this forums link in it. I just did it.

I have a 2000 Jeep G.C.L and my passenger side windows and door locks don't work at all... I've tried everything that I could think of, but still no luck... any suggestions?

I'm having problems with the sentry key/dash lights on my 2000 GCL. From what I've read, this seems to be the next problem in a long lists of problems. I took the car in after the dash lights came on one by one beginning with the sentry key light. I also stalled out twice in two weeks, but I didn't think that there was a connection, but as I look into this further, there seems to be a connection.

The dealer thought they fixed the problem. Said that it was a negative cable to the battery that was loose. Two days later it happened again. As of now I am using the spare key to see if it's just my battery in my key that needs replacing. I'm sure it can't be that easy of a "fix". I'm tired of putting money into my car. Anyone else having issues with this? P.S. I have the duck sound too... my locks work so why pay the money to have them fixed. I think I would miss the sound if I did! :)

So we all get the glory of a wannabe Jeep. Fully loaded and ready to cost us some money. Brakes replaced, and rotors, rear seals, tranny stuff, and yes now lights coming on and off in dash board...

Well, I'm going to drive it to the ground, and run it off the road, then I going to pull all the fossil fuel stuff out of it and turn it into a battery operated truck, why not get a head start on the future. It's going to cost me way too much if I try to fix the computer, that is the problem. So good luck. I rather put a PC in there to operate it.

Same problems. Getting the growl noise, I think it's the lock on the tailgate. Also having the issues with the lights. We REALLY need to come together and flood Chrysler's email. This is truly ridiculous. For a while adjusting the contact worked, but now even with that, I still don't have a brake light, but at least I have a tail light. At one point I literally had no lights in the back.

Ooh wow.. yeah yeah, I have the same issue. Duck growl & no left brake light. Any recalls yet???

Generally by law manfacturers are only obligated to honor safety recalls out of the normal manufacturer warranty... seems like they should make an exception on this one if they want to any repeat business...

Now every time my door growls and my friends hear it, I tell them, "It is a wide spread issue that Jeep knows about and refuses to fix". They all bought Toyotas and Hondas! Hooray! I win!

2000 Jeep Grandee. Have had all problems every one else as had, but the left turn single works some of the time. Any suggestion?

Jeep WJ tailgate problem... when opening, get a "crack sound" or "pop" while tailgate is moving up to the full open position. My guess is that this is an alignment problem. Have the problem on both my 2002 and 2004 models. Does anyone know how to adjust the tailgate to eliminate this problem?

Having all the same issues as everyone else with my 2000 JGC Laredo.

Duck in door and tail lights. Took car to get tail light checked (right side). They got it working fine, but the left side started to go out when the headlights are on!

Anyone know/help me figure out why when I shift truck into 2wd; dash light says "part time". Thanks.

Yeah, I have a 2000 Grand Cherokee Laredo, and I've had all the same problems I'm hearing above.

Now all my doors make the locking noise, and the tail light problem I finally took care of by buying a new tail light for what I think was the third time.

My window stopped rolling up, but it still makes the sound it normally would make when it is rolling up fine. I went online to search about fixing it, and came across this page where I find I'm not the only one in the world having all these crazy problems with my Jeep.

I love the car and love the model, but how can I trust one in the future if I hear people are still having problems with models as recent as 04?

I've had most of these problems.. I had to change the driver's side lock, passenger side lock, tailgate lock. I've had to buy a new passenger side tail light. Now I still have to buy a brake light bulb once in a while. I had a bad radiator fan, which led to an overheating problem. I had to replace the starter a couple years back. I had to replace the battery this year (old one lasted 10 years).

Every car has its problems.. With proper oil changes and maintenance when necessary, this thing will last you a long time. My Jeep is 10 years old now, and it has 120,000+ miles and is still running strong.

Yeah, I wrote the comment 2 up, the 96 Grand Cherokee I had before this one had 275,000 when it finally died (god rest er sole), and the one I have now has 235,000 and it's still running strong (knock on wood). Jeeps are great, some of the minor problems just get a little frustrating at times.

2000 Grand Cherokee and the same thing. No brake lights and a duck sound on driver's side door, which only opens with key fob and key, neither one by itself works. Ugh.

I had the same tail light issue, brake light going out with head lights on. I fixed this problem, by lifting the ground contact. And it works! Brake lights work with head lights on.

Now I am having the opposite problem. When I turn my headlights on, the right tail running light doesn't work. How do I fix that?
