2003 Jeep Liberty from North America

Summary:

My vehicle is a lemon

Faults:

I have a vibration in the vehicle between 83 and 93 km/hr. I have been dealing with this problem since I purchased the vehicle 2 months ago. The dealership guessed the problem was the drive shaft and ordered me a new one. It took 2 months for the part to come in. When they changed it the problem is still there. They now cannot tell me what the problem is and say they are still looking into it. I have had the vehicle into 3 different dealerships to have the problem looked at and it is still not rectified. I have been in contact with the 1-800 customer service line for Chrysler, only to be hung up on twice. I still have the problem.

The seats are starting to wear after just having the vehicle for 2 months.

General Comments:

I enjoy the amount of room the vehicle has.

I have also had my 03' Liberty Ltd. in for a new drive-line, just after 2 weeks of ownership. The vibration went away for awhile, but has recently resurfaced.

My transmission has also failed after 20k miles along with the power windows and mirrors. My Jeep has been on life support for the last week. Good luck with the 1-800 number, I got nowhere with it.

2003 Jeep Liberty Sport 3.7 from North America

Summary:

A true 4x4

Faults:

There is a bad vibration coming from the steering wheel at 90 - 100 k's/hour. Dealer balanced all tires and yet, it still vibrates. I can also hear a drive line hum coming from the back of the vehicle. When the dealer was instructed about this, all they did was lubricate all bushings and told me everything was O.K. I have 5000 Kilometers now and still a bad vibration and still a noise coming from the back of the vehicle. Any one else with this problem or are aware of a recall to fix this, please contact me at mel-and-dan@rogers.com Thank You.

General Comments:

The 2003 Jeep Liberty handles exceptionally well in bad weather such as slippery roads and steep slopes. When power is needed, you can count on the 3.7 liter engine to overcome whatever is in the way. The select-track 4 wheel drive system demands respect. I could tow anybody out of a ditch with ease and the engine is very responsive. Comfort could have been a little better thought of though. Otherwise I rate this 2003 Jeep Liberty 8/10.

You still have to remember it's a Jeep on the comfort issue though. You didn't buy a Grand Cherokee, it's a Liberty, the called cross between the Wrangler and the Grand Cherokee.
