1979 Jeep Wagoneer LTD AMC 360cid (5.9L) V-8 from North America
Summary:
A good traction, low capital, winter driver's rust-bucket
Faults:
I don't expect much from a 21 year old vehicle.
The power steering pump needs a $15 rebuild kit.
The transmission oil cooler line was replaced after it broke.
General Comments:
This is a great vehicle for me to commute. The reliability of the full time 4WD traction is what I was looking for in these nasty upstate NY snow-storms. I also wanted something to trail through the woods, and to tow with. I bought it cheap, but buyer beware: It drinks gas!
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes

I also love my Jeep. With quad-trac and a tough body, it feels indestructible when I hop into the seat and pat it on the dash to take care of me.
I lived in North Carolina, and during a winter storm last year we had to take the Jeep out to pick up the kids from school 30 miles away. The Jeep slid in a really slick spot full of ice, but it took care of me. It caught traction after sliding sideways, and went right on its way. I felt very safe in the body and I wasn't afraid if I happened to hit a tree!
Despite being old, I think we got a bargain on it only being $500. Our Jeep drank 1/4 tank of gas just going down one little road, but I didn't care because I love it!
Jeep has won me over even though I swore I would never like them! They are awesome!

I have a 1979 Jeep Wagoneer Limited in mint condition except that someone took the chrome script sign "Limited" off the back tailgate. Does anybody know where I can get one?
I've tried junkyards (Internet) but haven't had any luck.

Thanks for talking about a '79 Jeep Wagoneer. What kind of price do you think should be on one? It does have a lot of rust at the rocker panels, but otherwise, it's sound. This one only has 60,500 miles on it, on its second owner, and all owners are known to each other and the prospective buyer, us, also. The original couple that owned it didn't have children and kept it in immaculate condition. Any help you could give me would be appreciated.
Thank you.
