2016 Jeep Wrangler 2 Door Sport 3.6L from North America

Summary:

If you're interested in a JK, please upgrade to a JL. A JL has some improvements

Faults:

I've only owned it for six months, and so far nothing has gone wrong with it.

General Comments:

This is the first Wrangler that I have owned so I'm new to the Wrangler world. I years ago owned a XJ Cherokee and liked it other than AMC's shoddy reliability. This Jeep is a decent enough vehicle. However it isn't without annoyances and flaws.

This particular Jeep has the idiotic 3.21 axle ratio coupled to the W5A580 (5 speed automatic) that is somewhat tall geared so off the line take-off suffers. I believe the transmission lock-up occurs when it upshifts to second and stays through the higher gears. So it's a contributing factor to robbing acceleration. I just have stock 245/75R16 tires on it.

The driver's door is a pain to close all the way to the second notch like so many JK's I have noticed. The passenger door isn't as bad to close all the way.

I also wish that the Selec-trac transfer case was offered on these due to having also a full-time 4Hi position.

Other than that I'm looking forward to removing the hard top this summer and the doors to enjoy the unique Wrangler experience.

My advice to anyone considering the 2007-2017 JK; if finances are willing to upgrade to a 2018 and newer JL series to get the better 8 speed automatic, smoother closing doors and choices of other engines. Such as the ecodiesel, 4XE hybrid, 2.0L turbo non-hybrid, and the hot rodding 392 Rubicon.

Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Don't Know

Interesting comment about the 5-Speed Automatic. I've heard from some people that the 3.6 V-6 is great - once you get the revs up. Have a friend with a Grand Cherokee who says that. People with Grand Caravans don't seem to like the 6-Speed with the 3.6 either. It's sleepy at low RPM. Like you say, the 8-Speed would likely help. At least the 3.8 V-6 is gone - sleepy no matter what RPM you are at, and not exactly bulletproof.
