You purchased a used Jeep that was possibly abused, now you are trying to "save" people from buying Jeeps?

Granted the Chrysler designed Jeeps are not as well-made or reliable as the old AMC designed ones (in my opinion, anyway).

However most are not nearly as bad as you describe, therefore I suspect a Jeep that has been abused.

"Weekend toys"- I don't think you can call a Wrangler a "toy", as they are one tough little vehicle.

Better suited as a second vehicle? Certainly.

I own a 15 year-old YJ Wrangler. This little Jeep has nearly 150,000 miles on it, and has been extremely reliable.

If you take care of an older Jeep, it will serve you well.

Abuse it, and all bets are off.

This is my sixth Jeep, ranging from '66 to '04. They all had the same problems. Leaky, squeaky, rattling, around the clock maintenance projects.

As far as trying to "save" anyone, (I didn't say that, BTW) I don't really care if someone wants to get stuck with one of these cars, I just want to cost Chrysler as much business as I possibly can.

If I can stop one person from buying a Jeep... :)

I have a 2001 Jeep Wrangler Sahara. It gets beat, but it gets babied after its beatings.

Drive it almost every day. It has 108,000 miles on it.

It was owned by a dumb kid prior to me, and he roasted this thing. I had to replace 1 piston (he melted it) and the head gasket. Put tires and brakes on this vehicle, and have had 20,000 miles of pure pleasure.

I love my Jeep. It's a 4.0 with a 5 speed. Eventually it will need a clutch kit and clutch master, but 10,000 miles a year, and love it top down in summer, playing in mud trails etc, and in winter it goes through snow like nothing.

It squeaks and rattles here and there, but it is a Wrangler.

It does not ride as nice as a passenger car, it's not as quiet as a passenger car, because it is a Wrangler, and I love it.

Gas mileage is terrible, but that is the only complaint.
