2001 Kia Sedona EX Gas from North America

Summary:

The best family car!

Faults:

No problem so far.

General Comments:

This is a great minivan with plenty of power and great convenience features at low price.

Also its safty is great. It got all 5 star ratings for all 4 test categories (front, side, etc.) from NHTSA. There is only other car which got all 5 stars: Ford Windstar and side air bag. I can tell how well the Sedona is built because it received the 5 star ratings even without side air bags. I believe the Sedona is a perfect family car.

2001 Kia Sedona EX 3.5l V-6 from North America

Summary:

I'd buy another in a heartbeat - and will

Faults:

The radio started 'clipping' within a week. Dealer replaced it immediately, and tossed in a free oil change for the inconvenience.

General Comments:

The first week we had it, we took a road trip to Colorado, climbed Pike's Peak, ran the back road to Cripple Creek. Flawless performance on a 3-day, 2500-mile breakin run. And absolutely NO 'road-weary' feelings. Comfort is SUPERB.

We're now six months and 12000 miles into ownership, and the real admiration for our Kia continues unabated. Smooth and rapid acceleration, crisp (for a van) handling, extremely comfortable and quiet ride. We live on a very rough dirt road out in the country and STILL don't have any rattles or squeaks.

UPPERS: Comfort, reliability, performance, solid design, a feeling of real luxury (take THAT, you Lexus Owners). Five REAL WHEELS to rotate!

DOWNERS: Gas mileage so-so (about 20 on the road) but well worth the extra power. Tweeters have a tendency to buzz as stations start to fade.

FINAL NOTES: My wife and I are both over 50, and have owned many vehicles over the years. Neither one of us has ever been so impressed with a new car as we are by this one. Price was never really a factor in our buying decision. We're looking forward to the introduction of the new Kia SUV this summer, and plan to swap in the Toyota for one.

2001 Kia Sedona Park 2.9 turbo diesel from North America

Summary:

This is a high performance van, the offspring from what is sadly a totally dysfunctional family

Faults:

At time of delivery, most of the dashboard warning lights did not work, a 1/2 hour in the shop found a loose connection, no more problems.

Right front passenger door leaked, it was taken care of fast and easy.

I had much less problems on delivery with this unit than I did with my 2000 Nissan Sentra.

General Comments:

This is my 3rd KIA people mover since 1998. I have owned 2 twelve-passenger vans and my company of which I am president has 12 KIA trucks, mostly K36?s. We have had first-rate service from them all.

I and 9 others survived a speeding truck hitting us in the side and rolling us over one time back onto our wheels. No one was hurt, but the van was destroyed.

You will notice that I gave the dealer only 4 points, actually the dealer is fine, it is the KIA home office that is the problem!! We waited 3 years for parts for one of the vans and never did get them. And KIA, despite what they may say about the warranty, makes every effort to get out of any warranty obligations at every possible opportunity.

Our company buys in bulk, but because I moved my KIA 1500 miles to my office site, from where it was purchased, KIA will not warranty it. Despite my efforts to contact them, KIA will not even correspond with me.

This unit rides 1st class.

The new Sedona body style with leather interior is a head turner.

The turbo diesel pulling max torque of (NM @ rpm) 331 @ 2,000 is very fast, but suffers from turbo-lag off the line, 20 miles per hour and up no problem. 35 miles to the gallon.

Handling: this is not a sports car by any means. This is an over the road long hall cruiser, in which a family can have a quiet conversation at any speed, in comfort and safety.

Fully automatic separate climate control front and rear, excellent!

Double sliding doors are great.

Very useful review.

2001 Kia Sedona S 2.9 turbo diesel from UK and Ireland

Summary:

It's the best seven seater I have driven

Faults:

Absolutely nothing has gone wrong with the car so far, it has been a pleasure to drive.

General Comments:

The car is a very useful workhorse.

It pulls away with ease and the 2.9 power unit is more than adequate.
