2002 Kia Sedona ex from North America

Summary:

Over all a great vehicle for the money excluding the windshield

Faults:

We had the car a few thousand miles and the windshield cracked. It appeared to be a stress crack and started under the black windshield trim. We had the windshield replaced and now at 7000 miles it cracked again. The crack once again started under the black trim. As we are waiting for the new windshield the current one has cracked for a second time in a new area.

General Comments:

We live in a mountain area and the car climbs the mountain with no problems. The power of the vehicle is great.

Over all a very good vehicle for a family of 5.

I hope that I have just had bad luck with the 2 windshields and windshield number 3 will be O.K.

Hello:

I came to this website looking for information on my cracked windshield. My 2002 Kia Sedona is beautiful, runs like a champ and is the best vehicle I have ever owned. One day the windshield cracked, about 6 long directly from the black rubber on the bottom left side. There is no impact mark, no dings just a large crack.

This morning I took it into Kia and the first rep ran his pen along the line and said.. "see here where the pen is.. that is a point of impact. There is no way Kia will replace this." I was so upset. There is NOTHING there. So I ask for a 2nd opinion and he couldn't see anything there and felt it was a stress crack. The Kia rep is there today and he too is going to look at it.

The only way Kia will replace the windshield is if the manager of the dealership AND the Kia rep agree it is a stress crack. Good luck there.

I don't want to turn anyone away from Kia. I truly am in love with my van and will get another one one day.

Keep in mind I am saving each and every comment I see posted about the cracked windshields. My goal is to collect enough of them to send a complaint to Kia.

Lisa.

2002 Kia Sedona EX 6 cylinder. Gas from North America

Summary:

Try it - you'll be surprised

Faults:

Our Sedona is still fresh out of the crate. We've had nothing but pleasure driving it so far, but we'll update you as we get in a few more kilometres.

General Comments:

We've read other reviews about the Sedona, of which we really only found performance, acceleration, and fuel economy to be relevant issues. All three go hand in hand, and were not a concern for us. We viewed the Sedona as a "family" van - not a race car, and therefore ignored the bad review (s). Coming from a larger, more renowned manufacture, we were extremely surprised and happy with the salesman, the dealership, and so far, the vehicle. The value for the dollar is excellent, and our expectations of our Sedona were surpassed only by the staff. Every vehicle needs a wear-in period and a chance for a good shake down. It's our belief that the Kia Sedona will leave the tests unshaken. Kudos Kia!

Great review, but us poor "Brits" have to go for 2.9 CDI engine, as it's crazy to run a big engined car here, unless you have piles of cash!! thanks to the tax on our fuel.

At least the CDI engine gets the thumbs up too.

2002 Kia Sedona LX V6 from North America

Summary:

Less quality for less money

Faults:

Rear light was defective.

Power steering pump went out.

Short in a wire with the electrical emissions.

Air Conditioning went out twice in a months time. I had to borrow a car both times because I was never offered another mode of transportation. It took them 2-3 days each time to fix it.

Rear hatch is very heavy and you have to slam it as hard as you can to get the light to go off indicating that it's open. It usually stays on because I can't seem to get it shut?

The gas gauge has a slow response after filling it up with gas.

It had a hesitation when pressing the gas pedal. I took it in and they said the computer was off and they had to reprogram it.

General Comments:

I will never get a Kia again. Yes, it is cheaper than the rest, but you pay for it in the end. I do like the warranty, however, with as much as has gone wrong, I'm worried about my warranty going out and having to pay for all the problems. I hear that it is expensive to repair them. If I could I would trade it in a heartbeat!
