2001 Kia Sportage EX from North America

Summary:

Love IT!

Faults:

Heat shield became loose.

General Comments:

I love my little KIA. she is reliable, good on gas, sporty and small. I feel very in safe. I had to rent a Honda CRV and it felt like a plastic toy compared to the sturdiness of the KIA.

2001 Kia Sportage from North America

Summary:

It is the worst thing I could have ever bought and I will NEVER buy another KIA

Faults:

Within 6 months of purchasing this vehicle the blower motor resistor went bad. Got it replaced and as I left the deal the actual motor went back and blew the resistor as well. Got THOSE both fixed and now 6months later the resistor is out again.

Both back window motors had to be replaced because those didn't work within a month of purchasing as well.

General Comments:

Kia Sportage is truely NOT worth your time or effort. If you enjoy spending your money on taking it to the dealer to get fixed then go ahead and buy one.

2001 Kia Sportage EX 2.0 from North America

Summary:

CRAPPOLA

Faults:

It seems that people all over the world are having nightmares with their KIA Sportage.

I am in Alberta, Canada, and also have many problems with our Sportage.

Maintaining the vehicle and repairing it seems to have become a way of life for us, we have a 2001 with only 150,000 kilometers on it, and besides numerous small problems, we have just had the Transfer Case go. This is a $2,000 repair, over the 2 years that we have had it, we have spent more than what a new Hummer would cost. To make matters worse, the Dealer which we bought it used will not give us a Trade In for it. So we are stuck with this piece of s*** and so will you if you buy a new or used one.

General Comments:

Don't buy one!!

I too have a 2000 KIA Sportage. I have had it overseas since I bought it and have had so many problems with it. I am back in the states and now I just dumped $900.00 into it and it still won't pass emissions. I'm done with it. I hope I can still get a good trade in but from what I hear, even dealers don't want them back.

This vehicle eats transmissions, three to be exact. Many other, too numerous to mention, problems. DO NOT BUY!!

2001 Kia Sportage LX 2.0 Gasoline from North America

Summary:

A really great car for a second family car or college car

Faults:

The only problems that I have had with the car is the check engine light coming on two days after I purchased the vehicle. The problem was simply a relay switch that the dealer was more than happy to change.

I'm a little disappointed by the gas mileage on this vehicle. When I went to the dealership to purchase the vehicle, I requested a small car that would be economical on gasoline. The salesman told me the car would get 32 mpg. It gets more like 20-22 mpg instead... that it is a real big difference.

The turtle-like acceleration is a big drawback, but I expected such when I bought a 4 cylinder vehicle.

General Comments:

I am really impressive with the room in the front seats. My men in my household run 6 feet and over, and they are comfortable driving my car. The spaciousness was a big surprise to my husband when he rode in it for the first time.

2001 Kia Sportage EX 4 CYLENDAR from North America

Summary:

An over-all good car

Faults:

My Mercury Grand Marquis was the best car that I have ever owned. I bought it in 1993 brand new and the went several years without any trouble due large in part that I changed the oil every 2500 miles and bought new tires every 40,000. The transmission needed to be replaced at 125,000. Then at 150,000 the ar joint on the front, right side broke not once, but twice in one month. Other than the transmission and the AR joint, my Marquis gave me 200,000 years of service until the electrical system blew. It was then I decided I needed to buy a new car. The paint held up until a couple of years ago Christmas Day when the rain caused the finish to blister. The right rear window in the back quit working about the same time the finish blistered and the seats have held up-no holes and they still electrically function. It is a good car and I was pleased to have owned one.
