I'm sorry, but having spoken to so many people that have had these junk cars I can't believe you have had trouble free motoring. Ours was a nightmare and it seems most people have the same experiences.
I can only suggest these positive reviews are written by Land Rover.. because the car is rubbish. I just recently decided to buy a new 4x4 and briefly looked at the new Freelander, then came to my senses. I bought a Toyota.
Be warned, I bought a LR after reading all these comments and chose to ignore all the bad ones and listen to the good - they were so wrong. It cost me a fortune. Maybe they never use them and they just look at them in the garage..
DO NOT BUY ONE!! there's a very good chance you will regret it. Trust me.

I totally agree. Having owned my 2001 TD4 for little over a year I have spent an absolute fortune on it.

Hi all, I have a 2001 1.8 Freelander Station Wagon. As someone else said, most people come on these sites to have a moan.
I have had no problems at all with mine. No it's not a sports car or fast away from the lights, it's a 4x4, so I drive it like a 4x4.
Sure there are lots of problems I.E. head gasket, but these vehicles have been sold in the 10s of thousands, plus L/R have said there is a problem and will fix the head gasket, or replace the engine. Everyone that is spending lots of money on repairs, have you not heard of a warranty, about £30 per month for peace of mind driving?
I have owned or driven most of the 4x4s on the market, and this has got to be one of the best. Sure it's not great over bad terrain because of the ground clearance, but it gets top marks with everything else.
If you want to do heavy duty 4x4, get a Series III, and if you want speed, get a sports car.
My brother also has had a Freelander for over 2 years with not one problem. If you search these type of sites, you will find problems with every car that has been made.
My advice, if you want a nice 4x4, you won't go wrong with a Freelander.
