1990 Land Rover Range Rover Vogue SE 3.9 V8 from UK and Ireland
Summary:
Lovely motors but costly to repair and run, with regular faults
Faults:
On purchase the brakes failed and almost destroyed the car in front, after ECU replacement was OK for three weeks till the rotor arm failed, and then four weeks later it failed again in rush hour traffic on the M1, now I carry a spare, all HT leads replaced and dist cap, it has the usual rust spots and a terrible upper hatch.
The back axle has a crack in it, and the ABS pump had to be replaced at 120,000 miles, apart from this at £50 per week to cover 240 miles with the odd misfire, a nice motor and very comfortable, just wish I got a later model diesel.
General Comments:
Buy a diesel or LPG model with history and get it inspected, try to buy as new a model as possible and anything that looks the slightest bit tired, walk away from the car as it will cost a fortune in the long run.
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes
