2000 Lexus GS 300 3.0 V6 from Australia and New Zealand

Summary:

Comfort, Reliable, reasonable cost; handling can be improved

Faults:

Nothing really, only the left headlamp cover is not as transparent as the other side after I got the car for 3 month, Lexus dealer replace a brand new one for me without any cost, good services.

General Comments:

Compare to my previous GT3000, GS is really a great car. The first reason is comfortable and quite. Second reason, they provide a good service, you spend much less for inspections and services than the other cars in this class for example 5-series and E-class. Third reason is reliable, this car is just reliable as Lexus claimed, I mean what else do you want from a car?

On the other side, the front tyres seems wear much faster than 5-series and E-class. The VSC system activated too frequently thus helps too much when you drive, try the new model 06 GS, they solve this problem. But the handling is not as good as those European cars. I think I will move to the LS, the top line in Lexus for my next car.

2000 Lexus GS 300 Sport 3.0 from UK and Ireland

Summary:

Sheep in wolfs clothing!

Faults:

Nothing!

Apart from the fact the car is totally uncontrollable in snow!

Even with (well run in) P zeros!

And the VSC is quite useless!

Winter 2001 in a November snow storm, the AA had to toe me home due to how uncontrollable the car became.

When I had the car checked over by Lexus (who charged £130) they stated the cars had handling problems in the wet and snow, which would be corrected in the next model (I have the letter from Lexus stating this)

Do all Lexus cars Have the same problem. As I'm looking to change my x5 (i grow tried of German cars) and the LS400 has always looked good to me.

General Comments:

I've had M3's,330ci Convertible, Clk Convertible, and a x5. But the car most fitting for my family was the Gs300 sport.

It was silver with beige interior.

Why could it not have better handling. Its such a shame.

P Zeros are the worst possible tires to have on any car while driving in snow. They are Summer Performance tires, meaning the tread pattern is designed for maximum grip on dry roads. *Any* car (probably *Every* car) is going to perform very poorly in wet/snowy/icy conditions with those tires mounted.

Your comments are hard to take seriously considering you obviously do not know what you are talking about.

This is good news for me. I have been saving for a GS400 equipped as you state. I am disappointed at hearing about the mapping system. I wonder if Me. Benz or BMW are any better. If not I will buy a hand held one that I can test before buying. Has Lexus said anything to you about the problem you are having?

Thanks,

Lynn.
