1995 Lexus SC 400 V8 from North America
Faults:
I have receipts the previous owner had done. Radiator, did seats over, rack pinion, belts, and water pump. I have had no issues until now. Power steering pump got a leak and these cars, they put the alternator under the power steering pump. Dumb. So now it blew out the alternator. Now I have to replace both. I guess I can't complain for a 25 year old car that I got for 1500 bucks, and that looks and drives awesome.
General Comments:
Go for it if you find them cheap and have had maintenance done.
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes

We have a 1993 SC300. These are great old school cars. Built when Toyota made things right and not just fast on the assembly line. Haven't had to do a lot of maintenance on it and it keeps on running. A lot of these older SC300/SC400 are on their 3rd to 5th owners, so it makes it very hard to find a clean example for sale.
Things to look for in buying one are struts going out... overdrive on trans.. cracking leather... side window plastic cracking... lighting and numbers/letters going out on the dash/stereo/temp controls... window regulators going out... yellowing of the headlights... valve cover leaks and trans pan leaking. If you are handy, it makes a great project car for someone. Unmolested ones would be the best find because they don't do well with a lot aftermarket add-ons. Also a SC300 with a rare factory manual transmission would be a great find. These cars went for over $40,000 new back in the day.
