Linda in Guelph, I must say that I have had my share of problems with my Lincoln L.S. 2000. In all respects to my dealership, they have tried their best to address my problems when I need. I would be very interested to know of any action against Ford motor company in regards to faulty parts or a poor product, paying 48,000 for my car new in cash by the way. I won't have a problem jumping on the law suit wagon.

I have a Lincoln LS (2000) that I purchased 4.5 years ago.
Six months ago, during a thunder storm, my moon roof decided to open, by itself, and never close again. The dealer won't touch it because they say it's an after market install, and they glue the liner to the roof!!! No one will fix it!
Any suggestions other than driving through Ford/Lincoln Mercury's showroom window???

Wow, I owe a 2000 LS V8 that I purchased for my wife in 03 off Ebay with 65000 miles, and I love this car.
Yes it has given me a few problems. My driver side seat heater does not work, window regulator, brake light goes out once in a while, replace four coils, and yes the small problem with the suspension.
Overall my LS has over 125,000 miles now. No mods, just a K & N filter, I have driven this car cross country reaching max speed! The car handles and drives well. Nothing man made is guaranteed to work a 100% of the time. My old man told me "if you can't afford to take to care of it, do not get it".

I have a 2000 LS V-8, and the check engine light started flashing when I got on the freeway. Autozone scaned the car and said that cyl. 4 and 7 are misfiring. I looked on this web site to see if anyone was having the same problems that I am having. Many of you have said that the valve covers leak causing oil to get down into the spark plug holes. I took the cop's out on the passenger side and one of the plugs was coated with oil. Should I replace the valve cover gaskets and all of the cops or just the one (s) with the oily plug?

Hi, I've had my '01 LS about a year now and have some of the same problems. Driver window is broke and my catalytic converters need to be changed. instead of complaining about how this sux, I'd really like some insight on the Cat Converters. Is it true that I have to replace them with Lincoln Stock or has anyone had success cramming generic brands in there. The difference in cost is incredible.
Thanks.
Matt in DC.

I own a 2000 LS and have had the misfiring problems the O2 sensor problem. I am currently having problems starting my car. I am stuck in the position to shake and rattle the key around till it eventually starts. Everyone basically wants to replace something different. Does anyone have any insight to solving my problem?

Thanks for the help.

I own a 2000 LS also. Bought it used in 2002. I now have 248000 miles. Ignition coils are the biggest problem. I have replaced 5 of the eight so far at 300 bucks a pop. Ford knew the original coils were defective and never recalled.
Many other electrical problems that are too expensive to fix. Wiper senor, heated seats, air bag sensor. Overall car still runs great. In shop now for rack steering , but heck, I got almost 250,000 miles out of it. Love the car.. hate the little problems and defects.

I own a 2000 V8 sport ed. I have had EVERY SINGLE one of the problems with this car that have been listed here. The windows (all four), the airbag light, the transmission, the wheel bearings. The coils -- the) @#) @#) $* coils over and over and OVER! Most recently we have spent THOUSANDS because the car is overheating, or actually, just thinks it is overheating. They "fix" it (new radiator, pump, etc etc), it runs fine for a month & then starts right back up. It's such a piece of crap I can't even trade it in.
I swear I wish someone would just steal the POS.
My last car was a '97 limited ed v8 Tbird, & it ran like a scalded dog without a problem until the day a big red Durango ran a red light & totalled it. I thought the LS would be a modern replacement for that great car. All it has been is expensive.

Oh yeah, and I forgot to list the hot air blowing from the a/c vents, and the leaking window & trunk, the foggy headlights...
Like I said, every known problem with the LS -- I've had it. I'm thinking about replacing it with a Dodge Charger, but at this point, I'll probably just get some compact SUV that gets high gas mileage. I've lost all faith in the American muscle car, & I can't afford gas AND constant repairs.
We were a Ford family for years, but I am DONE WITH FORD/LINCOLN.

An SUV, even a small one is not the answer to fuel economy. A mid-size car with a V6 will get much better economy. Even my large Buick gets better mpg than any small SUV's I'm aware of.

I'm right there with all of you--except the guy with the '02 and '04 getting 30 mpg. 2000 Lincoln LS.
1.) No lights on center console 1 week after purchasing.
2.) Regulators for the windows x 2.
3.) Valve cover gasket x?
4.) Ignition coils x 6.
5.) Thermostat replaced.
6.) O2 sensor replaced.
7.) Headliner repaired.
8.) Right stereo out.
9.) Ball joints--need.
10.) + more.
It's just nuts. I love the style of this car and the fact when rear-ended it's a tank that no one can hurt, but now that I'm at 126,000 miles I'm thinking about dumping it--since it WILL need the ball joints and stereo work done. I'm beginning to sense the onslaught on repair$$$$$!
Loser car in Redondo!

This is just too much!!! I have read just about all the posts and it's the same thing. I have had my LS now for one year and in the one year I have replaced.
- Starter relay
- Idle air control
- Transmission
- Brake pads and rotors.
And still have to replace!!!
- Coil packs
- Radio not lighting up!
- Front sway bar links
- Air Cond (blowing hot air!)
- Driver side window (something broke and fell in the bottom of the door!!)
- Leaking water on passenger side front blind spot! (Assuming the sunroof!)
- Squeaking coming from both front and back
- Moaning coming from diff when driving (100-120km)
- Fogging on headlights!!!
Does anyone know where it ever ends???

Wow. Same LS as y'all. Same Story.
I won't get into exact repairs (as they have been represented 100-fold in previous posts)... but I am ready and willing to sign on to any class action suit that's kicked off.
Let me know! yupyuponesix@yahoo.com.
