To My Fellow Lincoln LS Owners:

I too feel your pain, here is my list of replacements:

-16 coils

-Valve cover gaskets on each side (I need another one for the left side)

-Transmission @ 3900.00

-Both front window regulators.

Also I believe I have probably 4 bad wheel bearings but luckily for me I have this terrible pain in the butt paid off. Once the loan for the tranny is paid off in February I believe I will be purchasing a Honda or Toyota I hear some many wonderful things about.

Worst mistake ever!!!

Yeah, I just bought 00 Lincoln LS a month and a half ago, and I've already replaced all 4 tires ($400), and the battery ($100).

Recently it's been turning off while I'm driving, so we brought it in for a tune up. We replaced 3 coils and all the spark plugs, and the water pump ($760).

A week after we spent the $760, it turned off again so we brought it in and they say it needs a new engine (used roughly $4000).

I love the car, but it's junk. I took out a loan for 2 years and haven't even paid the first month, and I already have to get rid of it.

I wouldn't recommend this car unless you have lots of money to put into it.

Seems that everyone == regardless of model year has had more than the average "Troubles" with the LS model.

My 00 LS V6 manual transmission "Sports Package" follows true to course.

Bought it from my brother in-law who leased it new for 4 years, and at time of lease expiration offered it to me for buy out of $15K in fall of 2004 with 40K miles. Car was serviced per maintenance schedule at Lincoln dealership. SINCE THEN and thank God I purchased after market warranty for 140K and 5 years bumper to bumper, which expires in August of this year.

Both rear window motors.

Complete front sway bar assembly -- that is the cause of the bumping noise everyone hears.

4 of the 6 coil packs -- due to leaking valve cover gaskets.

New AC compressor.

2 rear shocks @ 80K miles that ate up in less than 500 miles 2 Firestone Firehawk 16inch radials @ $180 per.

2 sets of lug nuts --- NAPA has replacements for $5 per.

Cruise control light would come on when driving above 60MPH -- Lincoln had to reprogram one of the computer modules.

Plastic back on front seats are loose due to plastic clips on backs breaking off.

Condensation in headlights.

Center console gear shift boot comes off from console. Fixed this by using JB Weld and cemented it to console.

Emergency brake cover also detached from console, and cloth material covering roof support on drivers side is coming off.

I now have 94K on the car, and with the warranty coming up for expiration in August, will have a trusted mechanic go over the car like it was his own to identify any problems and get fixed.

One last problem that I still have not found any comments on yet is this; when climate control is engaged for the first 30 seconds, it smells like wet hay coming from the heater OR the AC condenser. I have cleaned the air plennum, used a vacuum to suck out anything in the air intake to the heater/AC, replaced the cabin air filter to no avail. Actually put a pine scented air freshner in air plenum to mask smell, but that only works for about a month. ANYONE HAVE THIS SAME PROBLEM --- and if so??? What is the fix???

And to top it all off --- the damn thing does NOT have a chromalloy dimming rear view mirror. KNEW I should have bought the 2000 Toyota Avalon that I really wanted.

OH well, Dan in Dallas.

I feel the pain of all you Lincoln LS owners. Yes, Ford make a mistake, and instead of making good on the car, they just discontinued. If you live in the Los Angeles area, or just want your car fixed you can call me at 818 644 5889, or e-mail me at; ultimaluke@yahoo.com I can fix these problems with your Ls at a fraction of what the dealer charges. I drive a 2000 Ls v6 sport manual daily, and have fixed these problems with this car, at least the ones that can be fixed.

So let me help you!!

I am probably going to be be the only person here that likes my 2000 LS! Although I will list my cars defects as well. Remember that this car is 9 years old, and has 75,000 miles on it. I too have the strange odor coming from the dash vents when the heater or a/c is on, but after reading the other posts, I think it can attributed to leaking/burning oil. I have replaced the crank positioning sensor, the clips broke off the manual shifter boot, and one of the chrome strips in the a/c vent flew off. I have noticed that the weatherstrip around the sunroof is leaking rain water into the inside of the car, but that's common with ANY sunroof, and the right front door weatherstrip has pulled loose, making it sound like there is 80 m.p.h. winds blowing through the car. Thank you all for the heads up! I now know what to look for and "forward to"!

I have a 2004 LS with 63000 miles on it. While driving, the service parking brake warning light came on. Then (in the same day) my AC/heater starting blowing out extremely HOT air immediately after being turned on... regardless of temperature setting. And I do mean HOT air. The fan appropriately blows at different speeds when adjusted. Please advise me on what needs done to repair these problems. I am a single, working mom and do not want to be taken advantage of by a repair shop.

Thanks!

It's probably your DCCV (dual climate control valve). I saw one on eBay last week for like 100 dollars.

I bought a 2001 LS in Jan. 2008 for $9000. It has 78k miles and I thought I was getting a heck of a deal. The guy "hated to part with it, but bought his wife a new Mercedes" (gee, now I wonder why)

Since the purchase, as of today (18 months in), I have spent a grand total of $4600 in repairs, for front end parts (strut plates, linkage arm, hub bearing) new brakes and rotors, 4 new tires and alignment because of front end issues, the trunk leaked and got the battery wet and caused electrical issues, 2 door regulators replaced, some gasket in the engine (I didn't even ask, they had to take off the hood and dismantle part of the engine) oh the pain of it all.

Today on the way to work, a big ole rock hit the windshield and made a huge chip, which has already spread halfway across the windshield. To top it off... I pay $235 a month payment and $150 a month for insurance.

Previously, I purchased a 2000 LS brand new from the dealer and had it for 2 years and did not have one issue with it!!! Then -- someone plowed into me and totaled it. I had Chrysler Jeep for a while but missed my LS so I decided to get another one. What a mistake. I now owe $6800, I have it for sale and have only been offered from $2500 to $4000. So on top of the depreciation of 50%, I lose the $4600 I put into it and need to pay $3000 to get out of it!!! UGH!!!

On a side note, it is running great now and I am afraid to ask what else can go wrong, as I have probably just hexed myself!
