I have a 98 Lincoln Town Car Signature Series/ Presidential model. However... I'm trying to determine whether or not it's a touring model, and was wondering if you could help me out. It has dual exhaust, 16" chrome wheels, micro-perforated leather seats, black birdseye marblewood trim on the dash and doors. Now some sites say that it is, yet others say it's not; this is where I'm confused. Considering you have a 98 Signature Touring model, maybe you can clarify.
Also... I had a spark plug fly out of the engine at 105k miles. My mechanic said it was due to stripped threads. The reason for this was due to the engine block not being completely cast iron, but aluminum as well. Just an FYI.
Thank you for your time and hope you can help!
Brian.

The spark plugs aren't in the engine block. They're in the cylinder head, which is made of aluminum.
You can tell if your Town Car is a Touring Sedan if it says Touring Sedan on the rear C pillar. If it says Presidential, then it's not a Touring Sedan, although it does sound like you have similar equipment as the Touring Sedan. The basic difference is probably the rear differential ratio. There will be a letter code on the axle tag, and possibly on the door placard, that will tell you if you have the Touring Sedan axle. Also the Touring Sedan has larger tires.

I have a 1998 Lincoln Town car Signature with the Touring Package. The car will be candy red, it will have a painted grille, not all chrome, the leather will be perforated, the wood grain on the inside will be dark wood. If your car is a 1998, it will not have touring on the outside under the signature series; that logo came out in 1999. You will have 235 60 16 tires as well, not the 225 that are on the others. Your gas fill door will say premium fuel recommended. Along with dual exhaust.
Hope this helps :)

The driver side ball joint broke while I was only going 20 miles per hour. Had it been 15 minutes earlier at 80 miles per hour I doubt that I would be here now. I had the ball joints replaces with grease fittings. I suggest that everyone that owns one of these cars does the same. The car only has 72,000 miles on it.
Water leaks on the passenger side are caused by a failing gasket in the pan below the wiper arm. Removing it and using silicone to seal it works well. Google the problem and follow the instructions to fix.
