I have no idea why, but the Ford Crown Victoria/Mercury Marquis/Lincoln Town Car are inept in snow - they lose traction more easily than you would expect for vehicles with solid axle rear suspensions (Zero Camber/Zero Toe) and a 55/45 weight distribution.

But not with weight in the huge trunk. I carried heavy electronic equipment, many catalogs etc with my years on the road. Worked New York, Northern NJ and Pocono areas with lots of snow. DC, Alexandria, Tyson’s Corner. I had 4 Vics and Grand Marquis as well optioned company cars. Heavy duty options. Great air in summer. These are now old cars and dated, but I loved them for work then. Driving up to 200 miles a day. They especially were great on interstates. High praise. Well built. If they were lousy I would say so. No personal investment; it’s completely unbiased over a brand.

I am updating my review of this 1991 Lincoln Town Car Cartier after 18 months ownership.
The bad: Window regulators. OMG they suck! Replacements offered by Dorman and Cardone are garbage because the plastic guides just break. Aisin is better, but one has to drill to make them fit right. Ford parts are no longer available. This is a deal breaker for me on this car! Regulators that will fail regularly are a major PITA.
ABS module went out, but simply removing the fuse and problem solved, but no more ABS. The moonroof switch broke due to crappy plastic design, but there is a good YouTube video that helps repair it.
After driving and wrenching on this car for almost 2 years...
Excellent interior layout. Clean user interface. Great powertrain. The 4.6 is fantastic, as is the transmission so far. Quiet. Smooth. Efficient. Can take a quart of oil every 5,000 miles somehow. Cheap plastic parts and switches. Brittle window switches. Finally a frame rail is rotting out at 70,000 miles, a Canada problem, though this was rustproofed!
Comparing this to many GM cars 1977-85 B/C body cars I've owned (Impala/Caprice/Parisienne/Delta 88), this Town Car is not the same quality, durability or handling. But the ride is smooth. I want to like it because the cabin is so great, but it feels a bit cheap. Almost like an old Taurus, just bigger and RWD.
Rear seats are amazing. Tape deck still working!

Or fill up twice and divide into total distance travelled.
