Great upscale limousine for a decent price

General Comments:
Feels like it is a class above the Passat, and the 2011 Mazda 6 I had. Quiet, comfortable, beautiful interior and comfy seats. The infotainment needs some getting used to, but on the whole the layout is smart.
The performance and consumption are better than the 2011 Mazda 6 by about 1l/100km, however the automatic transmission, while great at low speeds, tends to go to high revs, which is a little uncomfortable.
Good visibility, but the car feels very large and is difficult to park; hopefully just takes getting used to.
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes

It's a problem with all modern cars, poor visibility with big thick pillars (needed for safety). Thankfully most have parking sensors nowadays though.

Cars having smaller windows and bigger door panels is a growing trend for last 20 years. My guess, firstly for safety in the proper sense, secondly safety in the emotional sense. The latter means that when people feel confined and surrounded when inside, they think unconsciously that it's safer. Even the French are doing that nowadays. However, check French cars from the 90s, they had a huge glass area with low beltline.

Good point in the above comment about the practical and psychological safety aspect. Certainly glass amount and all around visibility in 2020 cars is very different that the vehicles from the 80s and 90s. Back then a car was a pleasure to be in, gave you this contact with the exterior because of the large amount of glass. Certainly very fragile bodies in crashes, but more enjoyable on a daily basis. Small kids also can't look outside on modern cars.

The Mazda6 has poor visibility from the sides because the windows are kind of small compared to the doors themselves. It may be a case of form over function. Having owned one myself, parallel parking was a bit more frustrating than in other vehicles. Despite that it's an excellent car!
