1992 Mazda B2600 SE-5 2.6 Gas from North America

Summary:

Cheap truck, you get what you pay for

Faults:

The transmission started making funny noises at about 120000 miles. I had it looked at and they said nothing was wrong. It needed to be replaced at about 130,000 miles.

The head gasket blew at around 140,000 miles, but that wasn't too difficult to replace.

The electrical system is weird sometimes, the lights will go on an off when the wipers are engaged sometimes or the brights won't turn off.

Sometimes it would just die when I turned left, but only left, not right, just in the middle of a left turn it would die. weird. but you'd just start it up again and keep moving. It always starts.

General Comments:

This truck is really not glamorous at all. It is just a way to move stuff from one place to the next. If you want a comfortable ride this isn't for you. I mean it doesn't even have air conditioning at all.

The stereo was garbage.

This car is really a gutless wonder, if you try to haul anything uphill, it really struggles.

Overall its a good little truck, although I probably wouldn't buy one again, they are rather ugly.

1992 Mazda B2600 i Extended Cab 4 -cylinder. 2.6 Liter from North America

Summary:

Very reliable, and very good 4x4

Faults:

The engine is really burning a lot of oil and gas. 1 liter of oil per 2 tanks of gas, and I can go about 450km to 500km's on a tank of gasoline.

When I first bought the truck it got 700 or so km per tank of fuel, and oil burning was about the same.

The water pump belt broke and then the engine got a little bit on the hot side.

Other than the oil burning and crappy gas mileage, it has been very good.

General Comments:

4x4 is the best. In 4-low it can go up any hill, and through a lot of snow and, on the sand it just rides on top of it as if the sand were cement.

It accelerates pretty good even at high speeds ex: 120km/hr and when you hit on the gas, you can feel it push you back a bit still in 5th gear. I got her up to 160km/hr I dunno how much faster id want to go with it.

The cabin for this truck is kinda on the small side. Not very much head room for a taller person, I'm 6'2". But as long as I can fit my subs in the back I don't care.

1992 Mazda B2600 2.6 liter from North America

Summary:

A solid reliable vehicle

Faults:

Replaced water pump at 109000 miles.

Replaced exhaust from converter on back at 108000.

Replaced one ball joint 110000.

Speedometer needle fell off at 93,000 miles, replaced it with one from a salvage yard - easily done.

General Comments:

Always starts instantly, even if at -30 F.

Four wheel drive system works flawlessly and it's great in the snow.

Gas mileage could be better.

Seats are very comfortable.

Kind of a dog when pulling a boat trailer.

Rides kind of rough.

I've hauled up to 1,500 pounds in it and it drove fine even overloaded.

Cab is too small for my growing family, but it is a compact truck after all.

Easy for the amateur mechanic to repair. The only mechanic work I've had to do was for the ball joint.
