1999 Mazda Demio 1.3 from UK and Ireland
Faults:
Absolutely nothing. It has now done 9000 miles in 6 months and has not missed a beat.
General Comments:
This car has had a couple of poor reviews in the motoring press but in my opinion they have been overplayed. The Demio has proved to be a fantastic little vehicle for me and my family. It has provided reliable transport (I get called out from home at all times of day and night) and delivers comfortable and ecomnomical transport. It even proved a great little luggage hauler when it helped in the removal of my son and his wife. Well worth a good look - and make your own mind up - don't listen to the journalists, what do they know???
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes

I would like to hear from people who have the Mazda Demio in Africa more so in Kenya. I am caught up trying to decide whether this is good for Kenyan roads. Any advice?

I am also waiting to see a comment from a Kenyan user.
My wife is so in love with this car, but as usual there comes people who advise against availability of spares. We are about to make the decision of getting one for her use.

I drive a '99 Demio in Okinawa, Japan. I bought it used in 2000, and it has been hassle free since! Minor rust damage, expected in Okinawa, was easy to have repaired. No engine troubles, has passed Japanese JCI inspection without fail every two years. Interior capacity is plentiful for hauling, or for passengers. Seats five adults comfortably for several hours. I also haul my kayaks (2, on racks), and all kayaking and dive gear for two people (in trunk). Great for families with pets. Good gas mileage, great commuter car. Especially good for women - seats are comfortable, visibility is great, dashboard is easy to read, amenities are readily accessible. Great niches for miscellaneous items like maps, toll passes, change, lip balm. Back bench seat is flat for comfort, adjusts forward and back, and folds both back and completely up for different hauling needs. Great acceleration for passing.

I really appreciate your review on the Mazda Demio, as this helped me in my choice. I was quite skeptical about the vehicle at first, but it has proven to be quite a wonderful car. Then again, it's a Mazda...
