1995 Mazda MX3 1.6L from North America

Summary:

Best purchase so far!

Faults:

I bought this car used and only had minor regular problems with it:

-Changed the battery shortly after acquiring the car.

- Car didn't start once during the winter, but it was because I didn't get an oil change on time.

General Comments:

Excellent car for those who are looking for something sporty and economical.

Nice sleek look.

Sporty looking car within a very affordable budget.

Great fuel consumption.

Car not made for tall and big individuals.

Backseat mostly accessible to small adults and children.

I bought this car last summer and I have no complaints. It runs very well and I would highly recommend anyone to purchase this car.

1995 Mazda MX3 Precidia 1.8L V6 from North America

Summary:

Great Car Good Price

Faults:

When I bought the car I was told that a bearing should be replaced, but that was all that was wrong with the car. I took the car to a mechanic who not only replaced the wrong bearing, he did a bad job putting the new one in so now it squeaks. Instead of fixing the problem he only made it worse.

After driving the car for a couple of months I have noticed that the engine has developed a knock. I went to a mechanic an was told that I should get oil additive put in so the oil can get in to the hydraulic cylinders and that this should stop the knock. I have not yet done this however, but plan to in a few days.

The keys for this car are not very good. Since I bought the car two months ago I have had to get three new keys cut because they keep bending on me.

Other than these small things the car is great and I haven't noticed any other problems.

General Comments:

As my car is a V6 standard it is very quick.

The parts for this car don't seem too expensive, but the labor is.

This car is seriously quick and handles like it's on rails.

I can't seem to find information about the car like the horsepower, does anybody know where to find this out?

For all the info you could need on MX-3's go to: www.mx-3.com.

If you can't find what you need on that website, I think that the older 1.6 engine has 88 HP and the newer 90 HP. The older 1.8 V6 has 133 HP and the newer has 136 HP.

Hope this helps.

The 1.6L 4 cylinder didn't have 90 HP at base model, it was 120...at least my '96 is.

I think the specs quoted on march fourteenth for the amount of horsepower and torque are the correct figures.

I'm almost positive the 1.8 has 128 hp, but not so sure about the torque.

My engine just started to make a knock sound as well. Thank you I'll give your suggestion a try. I've also had to replace the alternator and a couple of other things, but this little car is great on gas! My main discomfort is the size of the interior, but other than that I love it!

133 horsepower Stock for the 1.8 V6.

Summary:

Nice little sports car with a massive boot

Faults:

General Comments:

Whilst driving my old car I thought to myself why buy a hatchback and try to make it look like a sports car? Why not just buy a nice looking sports car! So that's what I did. And it has been my best buy yet.

Some people buy a car for speed this car has speed! Some people buy cars to get attention from the opposite sex (I don't need to do that, but some do) this car also does that! Some people want an all round economic car and that's this one! I would advise anyone looking for a vehicle which is sleek, sexy, has a great sound and brilliant road handling skills should look no further.

Whilst I opted for a manual for a more involved driving experience some can opt for the Auto (for the more chilled out I hear).

Another good point is that the car has a really good top speed (In england the fastest road is 70mph) but does not compensate by losing maneuverability.

Petrol can go fast at times, but that depends on how you drive, never let the petrol get to low.
