1991 Mazda MX6 LE 2.2 from North America

Summary:

Very responsive, and extremely reliable

Faults:

The CV joints are just now starting to click.

The radio has never worked.

The air conditioning doesn't work.

The driver's side window doesn't roll down all the way.

General Comments:

This car is extremely reliable, and just keeps on going.

It has very quick acceleration for a 4 cylinder/automatic with 221,000 miles. 0-60 time about 7 seconds. Passing acceleration also is great. Very responsive engine and transmission.

Handling is excellent, and taking fast corners are no problem.

The paint job still looks great, and does not show any rust. This is a '91 and it has endured 9 hard Michigan winters and it still looks like new.

I'm the kind of guy who won't buy any car. It has to be quick, handle well, reliable, and look great. I would highly recommend this car for people who want a decently fast car that handles well, that looks very sporty, and are on a budget.

I also have a 91 Mazda MX-6. I've had the car for about 3 years now. It has about 150000 miles on it. The only thing I have had go wrong that was major was the transmission, and that was a seal. I got another one from a junkyard for 200 bucks and its running great. Also, my driver side window doesn't work right. Other than that I have had nothing, but good experiences with the car. I've never been stuck on the side of the road. I say and overall very reliable car.

1991 Mazda MX6 GT Turbo from North America

Summary:

A sleeper and to underestimate it would be suicide!

Faults:

NOthing really, just that the windows fog up kinda fast in the winter time.

General Comments:

This car when I bought it was stock, and fully loaded. It has an intercooler, strutbar and its also a GT Turbo so it's fast..... a whopping 190hp fast.

When I first raced it against someone I completely blew them away and since then I've lost only 3 times and merely by an arm lengths.

All in all the 1991 MX6 GT Turbo is a one of a kind car and if you maintain it well..... it will last you forever and will have others gasping on how fast it goes.

The mx6 gt turbo has 145hp stock running at 6psi; not 190hp.

Where did you get all your parts for the MX6? Like your aftermarket parts. I got one and wanted to hook it up. Just don't know what I can put on it.

Regarding the horsepower ratings of the 1988-1991 Mazda MX6 GT/626 GT turbos : For an inexplicable reason they were very much under rated by Mazda and Ford. They do produce about 40 hp more than they were the claimed 145 hp, around 185 hp. Performance confirms this.

1991 Mazda MX6 LX 2.2 liter SOHC from North America

Faults:

Previous owner's problems:

A/C died.

Driver side power window makes noise.

Power windows getting slower.

Power antenna jammed (WD40 helps a lot).

Brakes tend to wear fast.

Fuel door doesnt fully open.

General Comments:

Even though I only bought this car a month ago I already love it! It amazing on gas, looks great (sort of an older Cavalier, Accura Integra look), accelerates nicely, enough luxury to satisfy (oscillating fans, sunroof, power windows, cruise, power option) and they are pretty inexpensive to maintain too.... I especially like it since its sooo nice looking (as nice as the newer ones, in a different way) and not many people around here have the older MX6 models.... If it's in good condition it's a gem! Keep it!

I own a 1991 Mazda MX6 myself, manual transmission, non-turbo, love the car, would like to improve it, but can't find any web sites or anything that has performance parts for this car.

I already have a Centerforce Dual Friction Clutch on it, Flowmaster exhaust, Intrax Lowering Springs, KYB Gas Struts, Yokohama Tires, if any one knows where I can find some parts for this car, please email at tacomex44@yahoo.com
