1993 Mazda MX6 LS from North America

Summary:

Quick and flashy - great deal!

Faults:

Both the MX6's I have owned, red (1994) and black (1993), have both had pretty poor paint jobs; although it is an older car, the clear coat is coming off and the paint has cracked on my black one pretty bad mainly along the front of the car - my red MX6 was quite noticeably faded..

Needed a new radiator in the 94 and went through a couple transmissions although this may have been due to the people working on the car and HARD driving. 93 has been fine with both transmission (even with hard driving) and radiator.

General Comments:

Even for an automatic, the V6 is pretty speedy.

This car is great, especially if you want to add any modifications to it.. looks SO much better than many other older cars and drives smoothly.

Sits relatively low to the ground for a sporty look, even without lowering springs -- equipped with sunroof and good stock speakers!

Love these cars, great look and I'd buy a third if I could!

1993 Mazda MX6 LS 2.5 DOHC V6 from North America

Summary:

A street legal race car

Faults:

The idle air control motor gave me problems for a while making the car rev between 1000 and 2000 rpm, but a can of throttle body cleaner fixed this part.

The driver side rear caliper locks up when emergency brake is applied.

General Comments:

This car is very quick and responsive and handles like an Indy race car.

It gets about 320 miles to a tank of gas.

I like to rev at the Honda drivers and then show them what the car has got.

Yeah mine puffs the smoke out to. Except mine also does it when I punch the gas. ~Phil.

My 93' on occasion gives a puff of smoke at start up (leaky valve seals I suspect), but also consumes oil at a great rate (500 ml per month, less if driven slowly in the city). It's got only 130KM on it, so I'm looking to either get the seals replaced or swap in a KLZE J spec engine.

1993 Mazda MX6 LS 2.5 V6 from North America

Summary:

A beautiful, performance machine overlooked by many, yet a great buy for the money.

Faults:

The spark plug wiring harness replaced in 2000.

I replaced the distributer in 2002.

Nothing else has been needed in 10 years except for normal oil changes.

General Comments:

Great, reliable car which handles with nearly micro precision.

Holds the road very well.

With snow tires, is great in the snow or ice as long as the snow isn't too deep.

Love the looks of it.

1993 Mazda MX6 LS 2.5 V6 from North America

Summary:

Great car would highly recommend

Faults:

The first problem I had was the parking brake locking up and coming loose. This was easy to fix on my own so it cost very little. At about 93,000 miles the power distributer to the spark plugs went along with the rear struts. I was able to get these replaced by a friend for around $500. otherwise little things like the auto window switch broke. this was easy to replace on my own.

General Comments:

I got the car when I was 17 and learned how to drive stick with it so I'm surprised to clutch is still fine after 100,000 miles. I love driving my MX6 and it's helped me lose my license twice already. But I don't seem to lose many races even though it's still completley stock. Handles well, and with new new Yokohama tires I put on it it's sticking to the road better then ever.

1993 Mazda MX6 Mystere 2.5L V6 from North America

Summary:

A great used sports car bargain

Faults:

Front right spring broke and was replaced for free by Mazda due to a recall and installation of spring shields.

Spring for the passenger power window button on drivers side broke.

Air conditioning needed a recharge.

General Comments:

The V6 engine is responsive and very quick. It is also fairly quiet and relatively good on gas. (500+Kms/tank)

It hugs the road very well and stops in a very short distance for being a 3100+ lbs vehicle.

The interior is appealing and options are handy to reach. However the back seat is useless for adult comfort. The trunk is huge and fits three sets of golf clubs without folding down either back seat.
