Hey, sorry for the late reply.
Make sure that your sparks and coils are up to date.
And about the "bog" you're talking about, it's caused by the air filter. Check to see if the air filter is clean enough, vacuum it for 5 minutes, plug it in, and see how it goes, or better off, buy a new one. Also get a compression test done, since you had a new engine 1000 miles before.
Ali, cheers.

Having owned Rotarys for twenty years, I have talked to many fellow owners and engine builders. One classic story sums up the best way to drive this engine. A female school teacher who worked a half mile from her home, owned an automatic RX-7. She never drove it hard. The motor died after twenty thousand miles.
Rotaries are like blowers. They need to be blown out. I personally do two things:
1. Always warm the motor up to operating temperature every time I start it (do not start it up to move to a new parking spot and shut it off).
2. Red line the motor during every drive. The bottom line is the motor needs to be revved to stay healthy. This counter to piston think, but in the end is the only kind of motor to own!

I have a 2005 RX8 automatic, and the engine was replaced about a 1000 miles ago. Seems like it has a serious problem, it starts fairly hard and has no power off the line, it seems to run smooth though. I don't notice a miss, but it feels like a bog when you first hit the gas for about 3 or more seconds before it revs, very slow revving, it just doesn't feel right, any ideas?? Thanks.
