2002 Mercury Cougar ZR V6 2.5L from North America

Summary:

I love it!

Faults:

Nothing major.

Checking the blind spots can be a little scary with the back windows being so small.

Interior drivers' side door handle has a tendancy to pinch the hand if you're not careful.

Could have more storage space up front. Only one cubby, in addition to the center console and glove compartment. However, this does keep me from storing unnecessary crap in my car.

General Comments:

I love driving it.

It handles great, and accelerates enough to pass with ease.

The custom leather seating is very comfortable.

Very sharp-looking car. Sleek body design and nice colors (mine is in french blue.)

2002 Mercury Cougar 35th Anniversary Edition 2.5 liter from North America

Summary:

A fun and stylish car to drive

Faults:

So far, not a lot has gone wrong with this car.

The tires had to be replaced at 35,000 miles due to the previous owner not rotating them.

The in-dash six disc compact discs changer has issues with compact discs getting stuck inside.

General Comments:

I own the 35th Anniversary Edition with all of the bells and whistles.

I have put 10,000 miles on this car since I purchased it and really like it a lot.

The exterior paint is glossy red and receives a lot of looks.

The black leather seats look great, but need to be conditioned often.

This car is a lot of fun to drive with great acceleration.

The air conditioner is nice, but could get colder, quicker.

2002 Mercury Cougar 35 Anniversary Edition 2.5-liter V6 from North America

Summary:

In one word, GREAT

Faults:

There is nothing wrong with the car.

General Comments:

For anyone who is thinking about buying a 2002 Cougar, buy one. I only had mine for a couple of weeks, but I love it and would never sell it. Every thing about this car is good. The seats (I have leather) are comfortable and the stock hood scoop is pretty cool. It also has really nice pickup. The gas mileage is just OK. I get about 20-22 miles to the gal. So I get about 310-340 miles to the tank. But best of all is the looks! It looks like sports car, but without the $30,000 price tag.

I agree with that, they do have have pretty good pickup and they look really nice. I had mine for about 3 months then I changed the stock rims to 18 inch chrome Eagle's.

The leather seats were really nice, but I wish that the hood scoop would have had a purpose besides looking good.

2002 Mercury Cougar 6 cylinder from North America

Summary:

This car is great and an eye catcher

Faults:

I went to lift up the trunk with heavy snow on it by the spoiler. The spoiler completely cracked off. I had to have a new one put on for 380 dollars. Of course it's an older model spoiler and a new one was going to cost me 600 dollars.

General Comments:

I love my car, it's great.

I wish they still made them.

My next car will be a mercury.

I recently bought a beautiful 2002 V6 sport Coug, but was dismayed to later find, with a closer look, a serious crack underneath the spoiler where it attaches to the trunk lid. However, it isn't the car; rather the fault of the previous owner, who OPENED and SHUT the lid by the SPOILER. She should NOT have not shut it that way; YANKING the lid up and SLAMMING it down puts damage on the fin. I got it repaired for only $100 (body shop owner in family), and so far have no other problems with it, no horror stories to tell.
