1998 Mercury Villager GS 3.0 gas from North America

Summary:

A great van for its day

Faults:

Ball joints, and tie rods 3x since new.

Currently have an occasional nasty engine misfire that we still cannot diagnose.

Leaking water in driver's foot well after heavy rain.

Door lock actuators.

Replaced gas filler neck and housing (rust).

General Comments:

It has been a very reliable work horse for our family.

It has been mostly city driven, which really hurts the gas mileage. But it still has the original exhaust.

We have oil sprayed the van almost every year since new, and it still has no rust (except for around the gas filler neck).

1998 Mercury Villager 3.0 from North America

Summary:

No problemo

Faults:

Overall - it's a good car. No serious malfunctions so far.

Maintenance included timing belt change @ 110K and CV boots/axles change at 130 K. Other than that - just oil and all liquids change/flush, brake pads. And the car will run and run. Maybe a little, but underpowered, but it's a family van and not a sporty car. :-)
