2005 MG ZT CDTI + 2.0 turbo diesel from UK and Ireland
Summary:
Diesel motoring's best kept secret for a sporting saloon - a smart, stylish choice for individuals
Faults:
Two headlight and one rear brake bulb have needed replacing. Nothing else of note.
General Comments:
Being a petrol, or rather a diesel head, I had thoroughly researched the market for an affordable, high quality sports saloon with decent economy. The ZT fitted the bill, and the fact it is such a good looking car as well as the BMW engine and suspension was the clincher - along with the price.
It has not disappointed one jot in the two years I have owned it. I have had all sorts of makes and types of car, Audi Coupe, Ford Scorpio, Honda Prelude, Toyota MR2, VW Passat TDI, VW Golf Mk2 16v, Mazda MPV Diesel Turbo - the list goes on. But the diesel ZT has been the best and my favourite car by a country mile. Very economical, pin sharp handling, good mid range and overtaking speed, brilliant at both motorway cruising and also for slinging round the back roads of Yorkshire, top build quality (proper thuds and clunks with the door, boot etc); and it looks fantastic every time I go out to drive it.
It's only now I am forced to sell it due to a company car that I really realise how truly attached I have got to this car.
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes
