I have to say that my experiences with this vehicle would prevent me from purchasing another Mitsubishi. My brother who has used Mitsubishi Tritons in his work has nothing but praise for these vehicles.
I will continue to drive this one; hopefully it has been sorted.
The problems I have had have been due to bad assembly, bad quality control and substandard components. The camshaft belt failure was as a result of a mistake made in repair by the dealer.

Original author. Did a 7000 km road trip with this vehicle a few months ago. Quite severe dirt roads at times. On the way back across the Nullabor Plain the warning light came on for the airbags. One of the wiring harnesses for the airbags inside the car had suffered damage due to extreme vibrations from bad roads I presume. Other than that the vehicle performed OK. The ride on bad roads was harsh, but perhaps on a vehicle of this kind that is to be expected.
I did the same roads with a 1993 Volvo 940 which I still have, and would have to say to say that except for road clearance the Volvo did this same trip easier. Perhaps with better aftermarket shock absorbers, the Mitsubishi would cope better.

My 2015 Mitsubishi Challenger now has a blown head gasket. I was told to take it to a Mitsubishi dealer to be checked for a blown head gasket. I took it to one dealer who said it would take them 2 weeks to check if head gasket was blown, and if they removed head I would have to pay for it and they would not put it back. I asked to see another dealer and this one said they don't think that a 2015 Mitsubishi Challenger was part of this problem. Same engine as hundreds that have been replaced. My health has suffered and a recent heart problem had me in hospital, so I had to cancel the dealer assessment till my health improves. The car can only be driven a short distance before coolant bottle starts to bubble. A mechanic friend has confirmed it's a blown head gasket.
The dealers throw every obstacle they can to deter you from continuing your claim. Countless forums on Challenger and Triton models about this engine block problem of rough machining. Mitsubishi has replaced many engines, but many have had the same problem again with the new engine. One person has had 3 replacement engines. Many lives interrupted, work, holidays all put on hold; not good enough Mitsubishi.

I have owned a 2012 Challenger since new. Mine had its engine replaced at just over 30000kms due to the machining fault on these engines. It was done by Mitsubishi at no cost. The car has done over 60000 kms since without any problems.
The car is experiencing an intermittent starting problem; I have been told it is the starter solenoid. Did Mitsubishi assist you with repairs to your vehicle?

Yes, the Montero. Seems like every time I'm behind one at a stop light, it blows heavy smoke out the exhaust when taking off. Obviously they have oil burning problems, and in the end that will result in rod knock.
