Summary:

The 2G Turbo Eclipse is the best car you can buy in its class

Faults:

The rear hatch storage cover broke. That is the carpeted cover that lifts up when you open the hatch. The clip on the edge broke. Other that that, NOTHING!

General Comments:

This car was pretty quick stock. If you do a few of the bolt-on mods that can easily be found on the Internet, this car gets REAL fast. I am not a professional mechanic. I do not have a lift or any great amount of tools. I was able to follow the instructions that came with most of the parts. Nothing to it, really.

The car is still nice and quiet. When you pull up next to that nice police officer at the lights, he will never know the car just ran low 12's at E-town. The only noise you may notice is a little road noise. This went away as soon as I got rid of the lousy tires that came with the car.

The only thing you need to think about is the back seat. This car is a 2 passenger car. That back seat is only there so you have a place to throw your coat.

Summary:

Great car for the price

Faults:

Broken seat support (I am over 300 lbs and also broke the seat in my last car).

Two bent rims (nasty pot holes in Michigan).

Stereo has never worked correctly, with exception of the CD player. Radio receiver goes in and out, not sure why (luckily all I listen to is the CDs, can't stand radio DJ's so I never really had an inkling to get it fixed).

Screws holding the controls for the windows and door locks in place have broken.

Many other issues with bolts and screws vibrating loose or breaking, probably because of all the plastic used.

Have had to replace the battery 3 times since I owned the car.

No major issues with this vehicle, just minor issues mostly caused by the way I drive the car.

General Comments:

Overall performance of the car is great. Gets me from point A to B without many hassles.

The ride is a little rough, shocks and struts don't take the force out of all the bumps on the road.

Plenty of head and leg room for the bigger man, I can't fit in the FORD MUSTANG which was one of the reasons I got this vehicle.

If you want a great high performance car, but can't afford a new 911 Turbo, this is the car to buy!

Nothing!

General Comments:

This is the best car I have ever owned.

I would recommend getting one while you still can. The Y2K, 3rd Generation Eclipse is a joke. It is like a Grand Am. Handles like a family sedan. Slow, ugly, and boring.

Well, if the new eclipse handles like a family sedan, then so does your car. They both were tested at.82 g on the skidpad. If the new eclipses are slow, then so is your car. It tested at 6.9 seconds 0-60 while your car, being an automatic, is not that fast. Of the two, I'd say your car is the boring one, sporting the automatic transmission. In fact, your car only tested better in one area, and that was gas mileage. So, maybe your car is the slow, ugly, boring, family sedan-like car, but at least you can rub it in their faces that you get better gas mileage.

Faults:

Since the day I bought the car it has been a problem: both engine harnesses replaced, plugs replaced 6 times (due to poor performance rather than regular maintenance), power steering system completely changed twice, computer changed.

General Comments:

Unfortunately, every time the car went in for repairs it was written up differently, so I couldn't apply the lemon law to it. It really irks me that a company would play with me in such an unfair way.

I also have a 10 yr. old pickup, which hasn't been in the shop anywhere near as much as my 3 yr. old car!

I had some of the same problems, but I'm angry. I have a car which is only 5 years old, and first the timing belt breaks, messing up the gasket - $1900.00. Then 42 days later, the engine was blown - $3600.00. I'll never in my life purchase another Mitsubishi vehicle as long as I live, my children and their children. I'll inform every friend and person I know who is just thinking about maybe purchasing one.
