2000 Mitsubishi Eclipse GT 3.0 V6 from North America

Summary:

A great priced sports car

Faults:

My motor mounts have broke.

My right headlight wire harness melted causing the light to not work sometimes.

The rotors have warped extremely.

The clear coat on the headlights have started to peel away.

General Comments:

The car is quick and I love the sportronic transmission.

The cabin, while sitting in the front has a cool cockpit feel with it, however I feel sorry for whoever has to sit in the back.

The handling is very good.

2000 Mitsubishi Eclipse GS 2.4 liter from North America

Summary:

High performance, but needs to be

Faults:

Experiencing clutch slipping at 50,000 miles.

Stereo/cd player head unit "shorted", along with my clock at 40,000 miles.

General Comments:

Over all, this little car surprises me for what it is. (2.4 liter, 4 cylinder)

I've read a lot of reports of people having serious problems, luckily, I've avoided most. Just recently after hitting 50,000 miles, I'm running into what seems like clutch issues. This can be blamed on "rough driving" which is in my fault.

I would definently not purchase this car again.

2000 Mitsubishi Eclipse GT 3.0L V6 from North America

Summary:

A high performance sports car with great capability

Faults:

Nothing.

General Comments:

This car handles excellent and the acceleration is better than most comparable cars.

I have 107,000 miles on my eclipse and the only thing I replaced was the battery at 75,000 mark, and the spark plugs at 105,000 mark.

Most reliable sports car I have driven.

Added K&N Typhoon Air Intake system and I beat everything, but a V8.

2000 Mitsubishi Eclipse GT 3.0 SOCH V6 from North America

Summary:

In my opinion this is the best and fastest car under $25,000

Faults:

I had the car for only 2 months and ripped the front and right side mooter mounts.

I have a slipping clutch a the moment.

General Comments:

I am very pleased with my car.

A lot of people are putting the GT down and it don't make sense, because the car sells for around $23,000; and has 200 horse power, and 205 lbs of torque!

My car runs a 9.30 in the 1/8 mile.

(Stock)!!!

My previous car was a 1995 Camera Z28 (V8),it only ran 9.60 in the 1/8 mile.

I have out ran the over rated Corvette, the GT Mustang, and a WS6 Trans Ame. (All of these are V8 Mussel cars, HA HA HA!!!)

2000 Mitsubishi Eclipse RS from North America

Summary:

They shouldn't give these cars to anyone

Faults:

My starter, alternator, coolant hose, timing belts, and serpentine belts have all been replaced before the 35,000 mile mark.

The new problem is still unknown, but when I get the car started, I will update this review.

General Comments:

This is one of the worst cars out there.

If anything happens to it, the cost to fix is, outrageous.

Should'nt have bought the base model, it has a dodge stratus engine.

Shouldn't have bought the base model, it has a Dodge Stratus engine.

The 2.4L 4 banger engine is in the Dodge Stratus coupe and the Chrysler Sebring coupe. But is still a Mitsubishi engine. The Dodge Stratus R/T and the Chrysler Sebring Lxi have the same 3.0 V6 found in the Eclipse GT, which is also a Mitsubishi engine. Check out the history on the 6G72 V6. It's been around for a long time. http://www.sonataspeed.com/6g72info.html

Hey, I don't understand why people are calling a Mitsubishi eclipse (2.4L or 3.0L) a stratus or a sebring, when actually the sebring or stratus is a Mitsubishi because the engine is a true Mitsubishi.

2000 Mitsubishi Eclipse GT 3.0 V6 from North America

Faults:

Nothing has gone wrong with the car since I've had it.

General Comments:

This car is super fun to drive.

Its not super quick. But with cold air intake it will take a stock prelude easily.

2000 Mitsubishi Eclipse GT 3.0 V6 from North America

Summary:

A great performance car, but will cost you in the long run.

Faults:

Warranty-

When I first had the car the SRS light would not go off. This was due to recall and they had to replace the side airbags.

Warranty-

The right headlight wiring became corroded and this caused the head light to stop working. The dealer re-placed the wiring on both headlights.

The stock Tires are absolute crap, they squeal when going around corners at a slow rate of speed, they slide very easily and are, in my opinion, a very unsafe tire to put on a car that will most likely be driven for its performance. I replaced my tires with Sumutomo z rated tires. Now it grips and rides 100% better.

Now the car is out of warranty, I have 50k miles on it. The front right motor mount is broke/worn out and the car makes a terrible squeaking noise when accelerating due to this. It is currently in the shop getting repaired.

Also the right window motor is starting to make a bad noise when rolling up the window. There are a rattles and creaks that I have yet to determine (and don't really want to take the time to find them) where they are coming from. The brakes are squeaking constantly, I have replaced the pads and they still squeak. The rotors need to be turned and this should hopefully fix that issue.

Overall the car has been great, until now. After 3 years or so it seems that it is starting to get ready to fall apart. The car has lost its value at an unbelievable rate.

General Comments:

This car (GT model) is a very fun car and handles and performs excellent. I have lowered it 1.5 inches and this added to the handling allot.

The Infinity 7 speaker sound system is good, but not as good as they make it out to be in the commercials, I added a 240 watt amp and infinity Kappa 12" sub, this helped a lot. The stock speakers are not very good at all (they are those paper POS speakers) even though they are Infinity.

The inside and outside looks of the car are great and I get compliments on my car almost daily.

To sum it up:

You will love the car for the first 2 or 3 years, after the warranty goes I would recommend trading it in, as you will see it will start to fall apart on you. I am trading my car in this weekend, as soon as it gets out of the shop.
