2000 Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder GT Premium 3.0 from North America
Summary:
Looks nice, but not even close to worth it
Faults:
Door handle was broken when I got it - fixed under warranty.
Gas compartment spring was broken when I got it - fixed under warranty.
Brakes don't give very good stopping power even from Day 1.
Headliner around the back window came loose at 40K miles, superglue or headliner glue that the dealer used lasted about 5 minutes.
Occasionally water will pour out of right speaker after rain, but top doesn't leak.
Brakes squeaked when I got it so I replaced them even though they had over 80 percent left and they still squeak and grind really bad.
Pulls to the left really bad since the day I got it, had it aligned several times and now the computer shows the alignment as right on, but it still pulls. After about 20 miles my arm starts to ache from holding it straight.
Tire leaked air slowly even after I replaced it, finally diagnosed as defective rim.
Passenger window motor slowing down at 75K miles - luckily I purchased a 100K extended warranty.
Something rattles inside the passenger rear side panel almost unbearably. The dealer will check it out, but will charge me $200 if it's not something that is covered by warranty.
Excessive paint chips (I have put 50K miles on it, but I had it repainted last year by the dealer).
A/C isn't all that cold.
Dent Wizard won't work on them because of reinforcements and any little thing gives it a ding.
General Comments:
Looks cool, I love the SportTronic transmission.
Pretty fast, good acceleration, fun to drive short distances.
Depreciates like crazy and I didn't even buy it new.
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? No

The only thing I agree on you with so far is the turning. I have a 2003GT and I absolutely love it, besides how wide it turns. I am hoping from 2001 to 03 they made changes for the good.
