2001 Mitsubishi Eclipse GT 3.0 from North America

Summary:

The best car I drove from it's class

Faults:

The moon roof button pops out from the roof, but I just push it back in, and it works just fine.

I also have the rattling noise from the left front tire, well the clutch. I also have a ping noise that comes out when I take my foot off the clutch to accelerate, which every dealer I took it to didn't know what was that noise.

General Comments:

Other than that, I love my car very much, It's black with black leather seats and they are still in good shape. I went all the way up to 148MPH with it and it had 80000 on it, it ran smoothly. no modifications done to the car, just lower profile tires and some brand filter.

2001 Mitsubishi Eclipse GT 3.0L V6 from North America

Summary:

Fast, reliable, and utterly cool

Faults:

The car has been in the shop for an antifreeze leak, a front turn signal light out, and a malfunctioning sunroof. I bought an aftermarket cold air intake that is mounted in a poor spot which caused my minor antifreeze leak. The turn signal turned out to just be a light bulb needing replacement. I took the car in for the sunroof which works pretty well, on occasion it gets finicky, but I find it fairly reliable.

General Comments:

I bought my car knowing it had previously been wrecked, and folks, it's still a great car. No electrical problems like my old Nissan, it has been the most reliable car in the family. Being a beautiful red color, it's flashy, speedy (got a ticket in my first month), and I take a lot of pride in this car. The interior is positioned to be more of a cockpit than cabin, in my opinion, and the A/C runs like a beast in Houston. My black cloth interior still looks great, as does my paint which is waxed regularly. It handles well, and brakes very well (saved me from t-boning an SUV). Granted no AWD stinks (who needs the additional weight on it, though? It's already heavy), but it's still really fast with good handling.

In summary, I find this car to be a quality product, and have thoroughly enjoyed every mile. I look forward to having my Mitsu-beasty all the way through my college years.

2001 Mitsubishi Eclipse GT V6 from North America

Summary:

Great looks.. needs better everything else!

Faults:

Nothing has gone wrong with the car. I bought it off a private owner, she gave me all the records of things that have done to the car. IE sun roof switch. They said they fixed it, but... it has messed up a few times... sometimes I have to push the sun roof up to get it to open!.

Transmission feels very sluggish. but does drive good sometimes.

General Comments:

The car looks great which is what drew me to the car. interior works and feels great.. the GT model which is what I own, does have a step up in materials VS. the GS and RS models. If you can afford the extra $5,000 and want to spare the extra room, and like the odd looks.. go with the celica GTS.. Me I don't think the celica is work it, Have a friend who owns a 2001 and has had never ending problems.

Though the Celica and Eclipse are, in all honesty, extremely similar, I find the Celica GTS undesirable compared to my Eclipse GT. I know I'm biased since I argue with my friend who happens to own a Celica GTS all the time, but I've been in her car and seen what it can do. Her high compression I4 sounds like a sewing machine compared to my V6.

2001 Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder GT 3.0 V6 from North America

Summary:

The car is a head turner

Faults:

Idle speed motor died at 65,000 miles.

Power Antenna no longer works.

Lost 2 rims to a storm sewer grate.

General Comments:

I bought the car new.

The performance has been acceptable, but I would like to tune the car a little and upgrades are far and few between.

Handling has been good, but improved with Sumi tires and lighter aftermarket rims.

The car get a ton of attention and comments. If you want a car that gets a lot of envy the Spyder GT gets it.

The Leather interior is comfortable and supportive. More rear seat room than a Mustang Convertible, Important when you have more than one friend along.
