The 1993 Eclipse had a recall on its transfer case. There is one website I can recommend to read up on common problems concerning the Eclipse: www.deadeclipse.com
I own a 93, and after reading up on the problems others have had, it now makes a lot more sense!

I have a 93 Eclipse 4 cilinder 1.8L engine, that I purchased in April of 2004. My car has almost 200,000 miles on it, and I haven't had any problems at all. She handles very well in the Idaho winters, and the only thing I have had to replace is the left half shaft, but that is just maintenance. I love my 93 Mitsubishi Eclipse.

I own a 1993 Eclipse with over 226,356 miles and the only thing I have HAD to do is change the alternator... Well that's it. It is a fantastic car. I have 50 Series Tires and I love the 4 wheel disk brakes. Oh by the way that screeching in reverse is the rotors in case anyone is wondering.

My 93 eclipse stalls constantly. Driving and shifting. The RPMs drop below 1000, giving gas does nothing. Once stalls it won't start. I've had the distributor replaced, spark plugs, fuel filter, & fuel relay replace. Once I do get it started and give it gas it stalls as if no fuel is being injected. After playing with the fuel relay it seem to have a short. I could hear the relay kick on and off as I moved the wires. I tighten all the connects and bam it started. Thought I fixed the problem, but it still stalls. Now at least it starts back up, but still stalls constantly.. Pls help.. Anyone know what may be happening???

I have a 93 Eclipse 5 speed that has the motor out of a 90 Laser in it. It has new plugs, new wires, with a lot of other new parts on it, but it's still under powered badly. Does anyone have any ideas on what the problem could possible be? Here's my email frostdragon_72@yahoo.com
Feel free to leave any and all problems that it could be thanks :)

I got my Eclipse for a good price. I replaced a few parts. After all that, I run really great for a car that 20 years old. I plan to mod to make it go faster, and put a body kit on and get good gas miles. Email me at jsmoto@embarqmail.com for anything.

I bought my 1993 Eclipse 2.0 GS SHOWROOM NEW! (Orlando, FL) And it still drives fine with over 227,000 miles on it. Of course I have changed parts from time to time, but all due to normal wear and tear.
My engine, interiors and body still look great, but I agree that the reverse braking noise can be annoying!
I usually mask the noise with my after market 600 Watts Infinity Sound System 6.1, and it just depends on how you take care of your ride. Keep it clean & nice… drives far…

I have a '93 Eclipse. I had this car sitting for two years straight in the garage. Three months ago I took it out and took it to inspection and it passed. I have had no problems with this car. It runs nice sounds nice. The only thing that is a bother is the rotors in the back wheels. It makes a little noise, other than that it's a fantastic car.

Hello, I bought my Eclipse a year ago, and drove it normally and changed the oil every 2 to 3k miles. Anyways, recently I've noticed that my car skips and hops around 2 to 3 grand, and I don't know why. I've changed the plugs and looked at the plug wires. Can someone suggest something that's wrong??

Hey whats going on, I just bought a 93 Mitsubishi Eclipse in Feb 04. (1.8 L / 77 K / Automatic / Stock) and I've experienced the same problems as you. Month and a half after buying the car, my transmission went out, and I paid 1200 for a new rebuilt one. In cold weather while I'm backing out/reversing... I hear a loud "screeching" noise, and its quite bothering. I don't remember if this question was answered, but have you figured out why it does that? Just recently, a week ago... my check engine light will come on periodically and when it is on, my car beings to kick or feels as if it is stalling. I've heard many things, as far as a mis-fire, throttle body, plugs & wires, and even my tranny? Got any ideas??? Thanks for reading this post... -Slow Mitsubishi Driver-
