2000 Mitsubishi Galant ES 2.4 liter from North America

Summary:

Awesome beautiful car

Faults:

Nothing at all.

General Comments:

I think this was the best investment I have made. I love this car. The power for a 4-cylinder is incredible. I raced a 1992 Firebird and beat him at 110 mph. WOW and this is a family car what power. This is deffinately like a 4 door Eclipse. Unfortunately I had someone come into my lane and slam into me so my baby is now getting fixed. But I cannot say anything bad about this car. It is an absolutely gorgous looking car too. I have to say that Mitsubishi did an excellent job with this car. I only wish I had leather interior and and it would just have it all.

2000 Mitsubishi Galant ES from North America

Summary:

Good buy, reliable!!

Faults:

Tires seem to wear quickly. Breaks were squeaking for a while.

Service managers at dealerships never admit faults of the car.

General Comments:

Great looking car. Many possibilities for upgrading the appearance. Almost 3 1/2 years, and no major problems. Great car for the money.

2000 Mitsubishi Galant ES Inline 4 from North America

Summary:

It's like a four-door Eclipse when it comes to driving

Faults:

I have had nothing wrong with this car. The only thing wrong with it now is that the bumper is broken on it from an incident with a dog a couple months back.

General Comments:

Even though the car I previously owned was a Chevy Camero, I still enjoy the Mitsubishi Galant. It's a great car to start out with. The possibilities on this car are endless when it comes to exterior, interior, and performance. The handling is near perfect even on the 2 year old factory tires. And even though some may think of this as a dumb action, I like how this car drives on the winter roads on the stock tires. The interior is somewhat comfortable and the amount of road noise is rather acceptable. All in all, it's a good car to own and drive. The only thing that is a set back to it is that the newer Galants only come in an automatic transmission. (But if you really want a manual, go and get the transmission switched with that of a 2000+ Mitsubishi Eclipse. I know I will soon.)

2000 Mitsubishi Galant Sport 2.5 24v V6 from UK and Ireland

Summary:

A serious car for under twenty grand!

General Comments:

I like the Galant Sport because of many things, firstly the looks, no other car on the road looks so aggressive, so many other drivers on the motorway simply pull in when they see me in their rear view mirror, then stare as I pull away.

I added a spoiler to the car which in my view finishes it off completely, however at nearly £450 it is not cheap.

The cabin is sporty and the everything is built solidly. The driving position is excellent and the gear box is good, the engine is very responsive and continues to pull even at 5500rpm and at nearly 105 MPH!

Motorway cruising is easy and it is very easy to exceed the speed limit, without even noticing it!

On the down side the boot space is not as large as it could be, but it's ample for a big shop at the supermarket.

Another great thing about the V6 Sport is the noise, there is a nice growl under the bonnet and it is just enough to let you know that you have a seriously good car. Many other V6's like the Lexus IS200 are only 2 litre engines and are very "whiney" and under powered.

I love the Galant, I only wish I could afford the VR4!

The Lexus has an inline 6 cylinder, not a V6, get your facts correct.

You say: "and continues to pull even at 5500rpm and at nearly 105 MPH!" as if this is something astounding - I'd expect ANY reasonably capable family saloon to still be able to pull quite well at that speed nowadays. And 5500rpm seems an awful lot of revs at that speed - what gear were you in?! ;-)

I've recently been driving an old (1994) Mazda 626 2.5 V6 which still drove like new - solid, smooth and no rattles - and still pulled like a train when you put your foot down at 120 (this was genuinely on the Autobahn) topping out at just over 140 at approx 6500rpm...
