2004 Mitsubishi Galant ES 2.5 from North America

Summary:

Japanese reliability with a Mitsubishi touch

Faults:

One rear strut leak at 90000 miles. Changed promptly.

Some rust dots on the front due to road stone chips. A plastic film cover over the front of the car would help a lot.

Brake rotors (disks) are getting deformed while heated, but braking is OK. You may expect more wheel lock on icy roads because of this.

Some plastics in the interior are not as good quality.

There's some rattling on the shifter button, but this can be easily fixed.

More important, I never pulled off the road because of any technical issues with this car.

General Comments:

Awesome family car, very reliable, easy to drive, responsive, comfortable, all for a low price.

2004 Mitsubishi Galant DE from North America

Summary:

Awesome car comparable to Honda or Toyota for a fraction of the price!

Faults:

The Hazard light button was a little faulty, replaced by the dealer at no cost (covered under warranty)

General Comments:

I purchased the vehicle used with 44,000 miles in 07, it surprised me how much size the vehicle had while still having a 4 cylinder engline and decent power and decent gas mileage. It originally was for my wife but we loved Mitsubishi so much we bought her an 08 Lancer.

It has a 5yr 60,000 mile bumper to bumper warranty that was transferable to the second owner (me).

I bought an awesome car comparable to an Accord or Camry for a fraction of the price, the only complaint being the inside furniture (dash etc) feels cheap... but it is a DE model so what else can I expect!

2004 Mitsubishi Galant LS 3.8 V6 from North America

Summary:

Best value for the cost

Faults:

Nothing.

General Comments:

Forget Honda, Toyota, & Nissan.

This car has better looks and has overall better features due to Mitsubishi trying very hard to break into the typical sedan market. The other three offer meager cookie-cutter cars due to resting on their past success.

OK the Accord and Camry are better designed with better interior materials and ergonomics, feel and touch...

BUT I bought my 2004 Galant LS V6 for $14,800 new (Civic Corolla money) in January 05... the rebates and discounts came to $6,000... Try that with Honda or Toyota...

I also received 5 year Free maintenance from Mitsu. That's free oil changes everything gratis for 5 years. Saab and BMW don't even touch that...

Now my V6 0-60= 6.8 seconds (MotorTrend)!!!

I can forgive the ugly nose, the terrible dash plastics, no folding rear seats etc because when I ride around folks are wondering why I'm grinning.. I just push that right peddle to the floor and zoom, I'm gone on my kind of amusement ride. And I get 23 mpg combined.

So I'll continue to smile and enjoy the no cost dealer and the savings I got which I used to purchase a Harley Sportster...

So you all be right about buying those other guys better cars, but if you folks are smart and buy smart you can get way more value from your money spent.

Shop smart, it pays in miles of smiles...

I love my 04 gallant ls. It has great value and runs like it did 60000miles ago. I like the way it looks, and it holds it;s value. My buddy raced me in his VW GTI GLX, and was surprised by the power as I beat him. I really don't care what negative things people say about this car because I like it the way it is, and if you want to spend more money on an inferior car, then go right ahead.

I've had my Galant since 2004. It is an LS model with the V6. This car is a pleasure to drive and I love the blue lighted instrument panel and Infiniti sound system. Power is amazing when you throttle up. Gas mileage is very decent for the performance this car dishes out. It handles curves very well with little body roll or flex in the turns. It is very roomy and quiet. Mitsubishi made a winner when they redesigned this machine. I usually trade cars every 2 or 3 years, but plan on keeping this one a while.
