1994 Mitsubishi Lancer evoII gsr 2.0turbo from UK and Ireland

Summary:

Love it

Faults:

The alternator stopped working for 1 day, but then appeared to fix its self.

Rear suspension bushes needed replaced.

General Comments:

Fantastic car, very quick with superb road holding. the ride is a bit hard, but you would expect that in this sort of car, very comfortable seats which hold well when cornering fast. the main problems with these cars are, 1. the very expensive running costs, service every 4500miles and the terrible fuel consumption. 2. the expense when something goes wrong with the engine or gearbox. but I do think it's a brilliant car and its worth the running costs.

1994 Mitsubishi Lancer MR(Mivec) 1.6 from Australia and New Zealand

Summary:

Wicked

Faults:

My Map sensor stopped working at 147,000km. Cost me a big 400 dollars to get it fixed.

Power Windows may need fixing soon, as they go up pretty slowly.

General Comments:

The car is very powerful and pretty quick off the mark for a automatic.

As soon as the mivec kicks in at about 5,000 rpm it takes off like a rocket.

Lots of room in the front and the back and big boot space.

Get about 350km's on a tank of gas only because I took the cat out to make the car more noisy

Very nice car to drive.

Has all the bells and whistles.

1994 Mitsubishi Lancer GLXi 1.6, 16v from Estonia

Summary:

Fun is not a strait line

Faults:

The distributor in the engine stopped working suddenly at 150 000 km and had to be replaced. The repairing cost ΒΌ of the cars market value.

General Comments:

The handling is in the corners very good.

On an Autobahn the middle of the steering wheel feels though very imprecise an uncomfortable. It's hard and very tiring to drive fast with this car. You don't want to go over 130kmh.

The acceleration up to 100kmh is for a 1.6L motor quite satisfying.

The ride is more on the sporty side, and with 195/50 R15 tires you will notice every bump on the road.

The saloon is a bit noisy, especially with higher speeds.

Hmm although the Evolution Series are very impressive cars (I have an E3 myself), I would not say they "eat 911 Turbo's".

Sure they accelerate just about as quick, but that is about when it stops.

Top end speed - no chance.

Braking - No chance.

Handling - depends on which model, but you might be able to make some ground in the twisty's.

But yeah very good cars - just not invincible is what I am saying.

1994 Mitsubishi Lancer GLXi 1.6 16v from UK and Ireland

Summary:

Superb, different car

Faults:

Not a lot.

General Comments:

Struggling to get affordable extras for the car due to it being quite rare. Spoilers and lowering springs are quite expensive compared to Ford etc.

1994 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution 2 RS 2.0 litre turbo petrol from Australia and New Zealand

Summary:

A high performance bargain

Faults:

Bearings worn out in transfer case - cheap fix.

5th gear syncro worn, fan speed control resistors failed.

General Comments:

In my opinion a Lancer Evolution has the best price per performance of any car on the road. Standard car 13.1 1/4 mile for the equiv of US$10,000. Cheap to run, 10 litres/100k on the open road. Reliable, has never been undriveable. Usual Mitsubishi cam belt replacement should be followed without question. Better than any WRX.

Hi, I have just bought a 1994 evolution 2. The fifth gear synchro is worn, any cheap fix suggestions? I have been told Castrol VMX gear box oil is a good start and may help a lot.

Any help would be appreciated.

Where the hell did you get those quarter mile figures.14.1 on a good day. I also noted that you said better than any WRX remember 4G9e engined GSRs (1.8 turbo) are to compete with WRX's. If you still think mitsi can beat subaru go try your luck with an STI
