Anyone done anything to their car? I have and it has cost me a arm and a leg, cause all the bits had to be made for it.
Looks the mutt's nutts now, well worth it...

I am from Asia and it's nice to know that people from across the globe are enjoying this car.
I have a 92 Lancer GTi as my 1st car and kept it till now. Never had a problem though some revisions from the stock model are done to live up to the Lancer image.

I live in Finland and I own 1991 model 16V 1.8 GTI Lancer. This car is really great. 275 000 kilometers are on the meter, but the engine is still like new. Only the valve lifters have changed, because those were worn and kept making some noise. The car's performance is really enjoyable.
I'm quite sure that also my next car will be a Mitsubishi.

I possess a 91 Lancer GSR and it is a very tidy car. It sits on 16inch Momo wheels has a huge 141dB stereo and contains a few modifications within the cabin. Further plans including placing a VR4 Engine into the bay.

I'm from Austria and my Lancer GTI 16v is also doing fine. There are just 45000 kilometers on it and the year of construction is 93! He (*g* the car) is dark grey! Before this one I had a '92 "normal" Lancer!

I thought Lancer GTi's were only in our country.. but anyway I'd like to keep the car for a long time even if its mileage is 100,000+.. it still works great, my friends says it runs smoothly and the engine is quiet... Anyone, send me pics so I have an idea how to customize it...

Hi All.
I'm from Spain and I have a Lancer GTI 16v with 97000 km. I am very happy with this car, although I had some problems with the CPU (Central electronic injection Unit) first. It was failing badly, and needed to get fixed. I fixed it.
Then I had problems with the starter. It didn't keep the revs constantly, they were between 800 RPM and 1500 RPM, all the time. What I am wondering is if these have happened to any of you? And from where can I buy spare parts cheap?
Thanks

Hi,
I'm from Australia and I have 91 model 1600cc Lancer GSR, it's rare to see the 2 door hatch here in Australia. Anyone got picture of their car for me to have a look at.
I am saving money for a set of 17inch rims for my car, and maybe an engine swap later on to the turbo version.
Please send pictures to onechinaman@hotmail.com
Thanks.

Hi there,
I'm from Hong Kong and I've owned a Lancer Gti since the day that I bought it in 93. It's almost ten years now, but it still runs smoothly at almost 150,000 km. The acceleration is still strong and the fastest speed that I made out of it was 202km.That would not be the top speed of it as I felt that I could still push it up quite a bit. Mine is 100% original version-without any modification, even the original wheels-the 14"alloy wheels are still in use.
Since some readers are asking for specs of this car, here are some major specs, hope they could satisfy you:
Hong Kong specs:
1834cc, 143bhp at 6500rpm, 16v DOHC, top speed 210km, max torque 17kg/m at 5500rpm. HK test report 0-100km 7.6sec.
That's about it. Hope you guys have got what you need.

Hi! I've got a 92 Lancer 1.8 16v Gti, got 130k on the clock without any engine problem. Recently tunned the engine and added an ecotek pump. The car is flying :-)

I have a '93 Lancer 1.8 Gti, and I have had same problem as someone else on here with the engine jumping between 800-1200 rpm, after repeated trips back and forth to my garage, it turned out to be something called the Idle Control Valve which is around £500 to replace, I got a reconditioned one for £287, other problems I have had are, weird noise from engine was due to worn timing belt tensioner & bearings & timing belt (a £500 repair job), now my engine got new problem, is running rough,so my car is back in garage, am told it may be timing belt jump/ may be due to worn water pump bearing. Also my car doesn't warm up when driving, only when sitting in traffic it gets warm. (may be thermostat) Despite all this this is a fantastic car lots of power and great smoothness from engine (when working OK) and tight handling. I think mine was a overclocked example that may not have been serviced at the right times. if anyone has any info on these cars please email me on russki23@hotmail.com. I would love to hear from other owners. I have never seen another of these cars in UK!

Hey you guys. I've just got my first Mitzi, and it's a 91 Lancer GTI.
I love this car, just had her lowered 3" at the front and 2" at the back.
Got a Blaupunkt stereo with 6 6*9s in the rear, with a JBL sub in the boot.
Have just bought Recaro seats and had the windows tinted. Need some new wheels on her, though she's running on 15" at the moment, but want bigger. She is the dark metallic grey, so need some shoes to fit.
I also have had the same problem of the revs going from 800 to 1500. Had it checked out. Seems to be a choke sensor. Paid 250, and running OK now.
However a knocking has just started coming from the front offside wheel on full lock. Have been told this is possible CV joint. Has anyone had this done. If so, what sort of price am I looking at? Would love to hear from other Lancer drivers.

Hey there, I just bought my brother in-law's GTI 92, and I'm using it as a donor for a l200 ute with a few obvious frontal mods. I used it as they have the same loom as an Evo, minus the oxygen sender, which can be installed with an Evo ECU.
And the GTI had a blown gear box; my ute was seriously under powered and the GTI went well, so I thought it would be a good idea.
One thing I'm struggling to find out is why the spare motor I picked up cheap has NO balance shaft. My best guess is the newer engine is a Hyundai manufactured engine. It will be interesting to see if it goes as good; it's got half the Ks.
Eventually I will use the 2.0 block and convert it to DOHC. I have done this before; you need the 2.0 DOHC frontal engine plate.

I know what you mean about not seeing another GTi, about that's why I asked if you knew how many were still on the road. Where would I find out exactly how many are still running?
