2002 Nissan Frontier 4 door Crew Cab from North America

Summary:

You get what you pay for

Faults:

These items happened in the first year: 1) The outside cargo light gasket (above the rear window) had to be replaced, it was filling up with water. 2) CD player/radio had to be replaced, would not play Cd's. 3) Tailgate latch was replaced.

These items are to-date: 1) "check engine" light on 2x, had to take it to the dealer to fix the computer. 2) Passenger seat squeaks, dealer oiled. 3) "Brake" light has been going on and off, dealer says front brakes are metal to metal (at 23,000 mile??)

My dad also has a 2002, but his is 2 door. He also had to replace the radio/Cd, engine light and now his brakes (at 24,500 miles)

General Comments:

Nice truck for the money. you get what you pay for.

I have had a Nissan Frontier for 5 years, and have 301,000 miles. It has been the best truck I have ever owned, 20mpg and the only thing I have had to replace is the timing belt at 205,000 miles. Great truck; the best.

2002 Nissan Frontier XE 4x4 3.0L V6 from North America

Summary:

Absolute best 4-door small pickup for the money

Faults:

The molding on the front passenger side tire is coming loose. This is probably due to a nice smack it took while offroading. It looks like it's held on by rivets on the backside, so I'll go ahead and fix it before it pops off completely.

General Comments:

I've been waiting for years (about 10) for Nissan or Toyota to come out with the four-door small truck in the US. I fell for them back in '91 in Honduras, and have been looking forward to buying one ever since. I finally did, and I am definitely not sorry for it. I do wish the engine would get better gas mileage (about 16 on reg. unleaded). I REALLY wish Nissan would make a small diesel engine an option, as they do overseas. Also, the seatbelt is hard to latch when wearing a heavy coat, due to its location just next to the center console.

I would buy a small truck if it came with a diesel engine. It could bring Nissan more sales to offer this option on new trucks in the United States.

Agree that a diesel power source would be nice.

I think Nissan should have review these comments when designing the new Titan which has the same issue with the seat belt near the center console.

I love this truck but that's just my opinion.

I absolutely love my 2002 Crew Cab. I would also like to see it in a diesel, I would definitely consider trading it in for that reason only (if the mpg went up dramatically). Otherwise, I'll drive this truck until it dies. It tows my Apache popups with no trouble at all, I hardly notice that I'm pulling a trailer.

I went to brazil earlier this yr and drove my dads turbo diesel frontier. IT WAS AMAZING!!! wish they made it just like that here in the US.

2002 Nissan Frontier SE 4x4 3.3 six cylinder from North America

Summary:

Nice truck with lots of features

Faults:

I have had no problems to date.

General Comments:

This is a great truck overall. The one complaint I have is that the truck didn't come with a cigarette lighter or ashtray. It had two lighter outlets, but smokers must buy a "smokers kit" that includes a lighter and ashtray for $25. The ashtray fits in one of the cup holders and it isn't a good design. The design will most definitely result in a driver's seat with a burn. I have the SE 4x4 and the looks and comfort are top notch. So far quality has been excellent and I have not had any troubles.
