2013 Nissan Juke Acenta 1.5 dCi from UK and Ireland

Poorly made

Faults:

The usual diesel problems; injectors, DPF, EGR valve, etc. All expensive and took weeks for my local garage to repair.

General Comments:

Had this Juke a few years thinking it would be a reliable modern car. Looked after, full history, approved used car, yet still had a lot of trouble. As it turned out, my previous 20 year old Vauxhall Corsa was better! This Juke has been unreliable. A friend tells me I should have bought a petrol model as it is the 1.5 dCi engine that is the problem rather than the car itself. Nissan have not got much right with engines since the Renault merger so he says.

But in all honesty there are better options, this car is just not that great. Slow, not fun to drive, and it has a firm ride and weird looks. It is however comfortable enough and you can get well over 55mpg when it is running correctly.

Can't really recommend it, buy something else. The Juke's bigger brother the Qashqai is basically the same only a bigger vehicle. I would not bother with any of them again, selling it soon and going back to a small reliable family hatch from Ford or Vauxhall, maybe even a bigger family car from Toyota; sorry Nissan you are not what you once were.

A garage shouldn't be taking weeks to repair those faults.

Normally they should not take this long, you are right, but it depends on the garage. I had a car in for a basic service and timing belt years ago and they had the car for over 4 days, saying it was a "labour intensive job" and they were very busy.

There are lots of complaints about this engine elsewhere online also. On a more positive note, the engine seems fairly durable, and frequent oil changes help, but unfortunately in this reviews case they have not. Basically nothing. It is a low mileage modern petrol car, so I expect nothing less.

General Comments:

Another run about bought for work, this Juke is an average car all around, but they are very cheap to buy used, you can have a low mileage 2018 car for less than 10 grand.

1.6 petrol is cheap enough to tax and insure, thought the performance and economy are not great - not fast at all especially on the open road out of town. And you only get 35 - 39 mpg! Shocking for a modern car! I was expecting around low 40's but it really struggles for this. My previous Renault Clio was better on fuel and it was 20 years old. Still, the petrol engines are less complicated than the diesels and should have no big repair bills as the miles rise.

The Juke is an odd looking car, some say ugly but it is not that bad. Interior is very smart looking, and outside mine is red with alloy wheels. There are worse looking cars.

In short if you are after a cheap runabout they are ideal, just do not expect anything fancy.

Petrol versions of these cars are OK; it is the diesels you want to avoid.

Pretty much as the review also states. Over the years I tend to agree, I loved diesels circa early 2000's in cars, they were just getting good, fast and very economical, a genuine contender against the traditional petrol engine.

In recent years all I hear about is people complaining they bought diesel, saved cash, but also had to spend that cash on repairs to their complex engines, so what is the point?

Myself I have went back to driving petrol also in the last few years. They are not as uneconomical as they used to be now anyway.
