1981 Nissan Maxima LD28 Straight6 cyls.Diesel from North America

Faults:

All 4 springs suspensions, no no good.

Shocks absorbers no no good.

Rack & pinion no no good.

General Comments:

Because of good engine & transmission I sure will buy another Maxima. That makes up for the real BAD qualities.

I`m not too hurt, you see I modified all suspensions myself.

But if I can find the address for the manufacturer I would surely tell him `bout his stupid shocks & springs!!!!!! My name is FERNANDO AVELLA & I would be glad to shove the suspension into his face!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes

We've had almost no problems with the Maxima. I have to wonder if the owner with the shocks/suspension problems is driving off-road!

Car parts don't last forever! The ones that you listed will go bad.

I have a 1982 Maxima with the ld28 diesel. I too had to change the suspension out. It's not a hard job to replace the springs yourself.

Mine was bought at a donated car auction. It had some issues from sitting for a long period. Once I'd purged the fuel system of moisture and fixed the suspension, it transformed into a desirable daily driver. Lots of pulling power and that straight six diesel drone sounds like the Nissan 280z. Same engine dimensionally.

It's not a great car, but it's still quite good. Starts right up with minimal smoking and powers away nicely after a 2 minute warm up.

The wife hates it, but she is a snob. LOL.
